We arrived at the front of the Hotel and we were met by a staff member. Michael gave directions to the car park and met us there. He escorted us to reception where we swiftly signed in. He then showed us to our room carrying all the bags. Gave us information and instructions relating to bread fast and facilities of...

We were unexpectedly upgraded to a Grand Suite (room 15) in this cosy converted 18th century (?) house in the heart of the Scottish capital. A short stroll from the city centre, this modernized hotel offers a lap of luxury at reasonable rates. We stayed 3 nights and indulged in cultural, history and foodie experiences this great city has to...

Don't know how trip advisor rate hotels in their league table as having stayed in many Edinburgh hotels this hotel should be top ten. I paid £321 for 3 nights stay including breakfast and received the biggest hotel room I've ever had. The room was beautiful with a bay window. Loads of storage. Big TV, microwave , fridge, safe. Plus...

The rooms are very big with a living area, a big and comfortable bed and a wide bathroom with shower and bathtub. The breakfast was delicious and...

Booked as Christmas gift and intended as a destination rather than just a base to explore the city, we were utterly delighted in the service and accommodation. Suite 21 is huge and overlooks historic Dean Village which is worth a visit. With no formal restaurant on site you can choose to dine in your room which we did. Food was...

A few minutes walk from Princes Street, this warm and welcoming hotel was a delight. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
