Recently stayed here for a short family break. All I can say is that this is one of the best places I have ever visited. We stayed in one of the hotels luxury apartments. The service was AMAZING, the staff were the most helpful and overall a truly wonderful experience. There was one member of staff called Hannah who was...

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. I'll be honest, I would have been quite happy with the Premier Inn on Princes Street (reviewed previously) but it was booked out. I'm actually rather glad it was. The Rutland is brilliantly located below the castle just off Princes Street. We arrived at 12.30 and parked in the Castle...

Everything was awesome... Lovely bed, great view, best hotel breakfast ever, size of the room was big enough for luggages. Actually I can't blame anything... ...exept the shower. Hot water issues all the time. Old pipe systems doesn't give enough water pressures to whole building or something like that. Dunno the reason why.

Stayed for one night in a room overlooking the castle. The hotel is really well located at the end of Princes St, with a taxi rank right outside. Room was gorgeous, most comfortable and largest bed I've ever slept in! Bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and a great shower and some really nice complimentary products. Only gripe was we didn't...

We had a standard room which was lovely, overlooking road but double window meant no traffic noise. (Some rooms have a view of the castle, and apartments also available) Room decent size, nice accent colour decor, comfortable bed, large bathroom complete with bath products. We thoroughly enjoyed the in room complimentary shortbread, bottled water topped up every day, and the...

My wife and arrive the morning of July 12th after and overnight flight from the U.S. We were warmly greeted and showed immediately to our room. The room had modern furnishings and was very clean. Our room faced an amazing view of the castle. We had plenty of closet/drawer space. The bathroom was large and well supplied. The room included a huge breakfast at the Cafe Huxley which was downstairs and attached to the hotel by an interior passage. The staff was friendly and tried to resolve some of the problems we faced: no air...

Me and my wife stayed at apartment 15/3 for two nights and were overall very pleased. It was everything we expected and then some. One downside, however, you may not order continental breakfast to the apartments, only the hotel rooms. With a hotel pushing luxury as their primary sales point they should make the effort of bringing some breakfast two...

Hi Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay. Regarding the breakfast, this is certainly something that we will take on board and look into as having as an option. Our apartments are sold as luxury self catering apartments, hence why we do not (currently) offer room service. However, as said, this is something we will consider. Thank you for...

We arrived in Edinburgh by car and could not pull up outside the Hotel, but down the road a bit. It was early to book in so we unloaded the car and took the 4 cases to reception. We were advised that we could park the car safely not far away for a discounted fee of 10 pounds. We parked...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
