We stayed in No 15,apartment 3,which is very luxurious. Beautifully decorated throughout & extremely comfortable..... Staff @ The Rutland are very welcoming & friendly, can't do enough for the guests, particularly Jamie on reception, who was friendly, informative & helpful. Had an evening meal on Saturday night in ' kyloe' which was outstanding, best steak ever :) Definitely worth more than one return visit.....

My husband and I stayed here for one night in June. The room was functional, yet decorated nicely. The large bathtub was well appreciated after multiple nights of super small showers at B&Bs. The free muffins upon arrival were much appreciated as was the included breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. While there is not onsite parking the validated parking structure...

Stayed in room 4 which was huge. The bed was illuminated around the base and the white leather bedhead. Very impressive. Hotel in close proximity to Edinburgh Castle and the shopping and eating precincts. Loved the cafe downstairs which was connected to the hotel.

Just finished up three nights at the Rutland Hotel. The hotel itself was a little dated, but the staff was beyond excellent. Two front desk people in particular (Jamie and Wojtek..sorry if I spelled those wrong) were fantastic. The hotel is located perfectly for traveling around Edinburgh on foot...as I did. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. The...

With only a dozen or so rooms, you had better book early to find a space here. The location is unbeatable -- a short walk to the castle (uphill), and an easy distance to many great restaurants and pubs. The complimentary breakfast is a really nice touch -- the eggs benedict that I had in the adjoining Huxley restaurant were...

We arrived at the hotel at 11am after a stressful flight from Stansted Airport. The lady at the desk was pleasant, polite and helpful. She allowed us to leave our bags in a locked room whilst we explored the city. When we returned at 4pm, we were told that our bags had already been dropped into our room. We were...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
