You won’t find a better place to stay in Edinburgh. Paul and Susan have worked extremely hard to perfect your experience when you stay with them. Paul is gregarious, knowledgeable, helpful and a wonderful host. Susan is an amazing artist, decorator, and fancy baker/breakfast chef who has transformed the space with her elegant taste and gorgeous antiques. What a great team they make! This lovely little b&b is an easy bus ride to downtown and not at all far from some unique “off the beaten path” places Paul can tell you about. There are pubs and cafes in the area as well. We loved our experience, including the fabulous breakfast and whiskey tasting room. Paul and Susan, Maddy and I hope to visit you again sometime!

We could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay in Edinburgh. The rooms are beautiful, spotless and comfortable. The morning breakfast delicious and Paul and Susan are delightful hosts. The ease of getting a taxi was a bonus. We look forward to returning!

Paul exudes hospitality and Susan breakfast was amazing! We arrived early and were encouraged to do so. We had a long stay in Scotland but short at Barony House and Paul helped with our ridiculous luggage. Paul immediately helped us sort out our opportunities and we were off! Barony House has been carefully decorated to reflect its true era EXCEPT the bath/shower were quite up to date!

Hey guys! Thank you for stopping by. It was great to meet you and yes, Edinburgh is a special place, you need a lot of time to see it all. We see a photo of The Sheep's Heid Pub (Oldest Pub in Scotland) in your review. Great that you fit that in. Thank you for Booking Directly through our own website - www . baronyhouse . co.uk - see you next visit! xo Paul, Susan and family

A faultless stay! Paul and Susan are excellent hosts. It was great to hear all about the history of the house itself as well as how it has been so creatively, but thoughtfully renovated. Paul was able to tell us of interesting places to visit, eat and drink, and was able to organise taxis when needed. Breakfast is a feast not to be missed. So,,. don't miss it!! Delicious! We stayed in the Servant's Quarters - a lovely room, the bed was so comfortable. The complimentary sherry was a lovely touch too. Everything about Barony House is 'top end' - and we thoroughly recommend a stay!

Thank you to Paul and Susan for making our stay so wonderful. We were greeted by Paul who gave us a fascinating insight into the house and his wife’s connection to John Ruskin, who pioneered the Arts and Craft movement. The decor in the house was absolutely beautiful and unique - it’s wonderful to see a period house restored to its former glory. We were then taken to our room which was, again, so beautifully decorated. Not only that, but the bed was one of the most comfortable that I have every slept in so we had such a wonderful night’s sleep. Paul also gave us recommendations on where to eat and what to visit so no research was even needed! Everything was taken care of. Last but not least - the breakfast! Wow! By far the best breakfast I have had in a hotel. Absolutely delicious (and as we stayed 2 nights and there were two of us, I tried 4 of the breakfast options on offer). And to add, not only do you get to eat your homemade breakfast option (crepe, pancakes, NY bagel) but you also get to eat from the breakfast buffet which involved homemade croissants, toast (from homemade bread) and homemade yogurt bowls with fresh fruit. Susan is behind this amazing breakfast which will stay in our memories for a long time! Thank you again to both Paul and Susan - we will certainly be recommending Barony House as a place to stay to our family and friends!

My husband and I stayed in Room #5, The Royal Room, and absolutely loved our stay. The room was beautiful with an incredible view, the bathroom was period appropriate but very modern, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the hosts, Susan and Paul, were delightful! The location of the Barony House is convenient for walking or catching transit (bus or taxis). We wholeheartedly recommend the Barony House for your next visit to Edinburgh!

Barony House is a total gem! This B&B is faultless in its 5 star comfort and hospitality. I stayed for two nights and was very lucky to get the booking as this place is much in demand. I was delighted with everything! The breakfast is exceptional in its quality of ingredients and charming presentation. I particularly loved the savory crepe, perfectly poached eggs and home the made bread. I was intending to stay here with a friend, however she caught Covid just before our departure date which meant I had a weekend on my own. The fact that I had this luxury B&B to look forward to on arrival helped compensate and Paul’s bonhomie made me feel so very welcome, I didn’t feel alone. Paul and Susan have worked exceptionally hard to lovingly restore and enhance this beautiful period property, they have created something very special. My stay here was an out and out treat - a great experience! I’d also recommend Isola, a small family run Sardinian restaurant which is very local to Barony House. Superb, delicious seafood! I would have eaten there both nights had been open on both nights of my stay.

Barony House is absolutely stunning !!! The owners Paul and Susan will make your stay incredible. Every little detail from the amazingly comfortable beds to the high end finishes on everything. ( showers etc are unreal). They actually have a bar on the honour system !!! The breakfast is 5 star !!! Great menu and you get to choose from so many options. While Paul is an excellent, hilarious, and energetic host, Susan is a chef extraordinare !!! Wow. She also did all the decorating of every part of the house. Can she come and do our house ??? We spent two weeks in Scotland and our 4 nights with Paul and Susan were easily the best ! They will also point you in the direction ( with maps ) of everywhere you will want to go. We’d give them 10 stars if we good. Great people. Great place. Don’t miss it ! Sam and Peggy. Canada

We stayed here after two nights in a renowned country house hotel In St Andrews (which cost 3 times as much) and Barony was better in every way. We had a beautiful period room with a nice en suite and great shower, one of my key elements for a good stay. Had the best night's sleep in days. Our hosts, Paul and Susan, were very welcoming and enthusiastic. Breakfast was very good indeed. There's a fantastic wee club house upstairs with a selection of whiskies and an honesty box. Will definitely stay again when visiting Edinburgh.
