Hotel staff were lovely , every where from reception to cleaners could not have been more friendly, breakfast was great, very good choice, clean and well kept, only downside rooms are very tired but a refurb is being done very soon , once that happens this will be a little gem of a place, would use again

We have just stayed two nights in the Leonardo hotel. We were pleased to be welcomed by friendly staff and a well presented reception/bar area with complimentary chocolate and fresh water. The food served at breakfast was also an excellent standard. Our initial room on the 1st floor was very cold and noisy due to a faulty window, however the...

Check in was fast. On entry to room there was a bad smell. This smell lingered for the remainder of the trip. Kept the window open. 😡 The bath had the remnants of a bath mat on the surface. Didn't look the best!😡 We didn't take a bath, we used the shower😡. The paint on the walls was disgraceful. Obviously...

Murrayfield, Edinburgh Castle and shopping in Princes Street within easy reach. Hotel was "adequate ", a large room with a comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. Cons: Directly opposite a major construction site which...

Excellent hotel, courteous staff and great facilities. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Edinburgh. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Location was ideal with all of the major sites within walking distance.

The room we stayed in was nice in the Leonardo and the hotel overall is lovely in Haymarket. But there is severe construction going on outside the hotel and this woke us up with banging and hammering going on from about 8.30-9am from our Monday - Thursday stay which was terrible for us. My advice would be to get a...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
