This is a lovely hotel. It's quite small (aka no conferences, etc.), but also recently renovated and very clean. It's an old town house that has been gutted and expanded for the new use. The renovation was well done - it feels very modern (cool shower with like a faux wood floor that's very 'in'), but also has traditional furniture...

Excellent all-round service from the initial booking of 6 rooms with different arrivals and departures, to the pre-arrival phase with confirmations and changes and requests, to the check-in which all went very smoothly. Great breakfast and excellent service throughout!

Great hotel, good location Front of house staff all amazing! Food great and the bedrooms really nice and comfy bed. Although the hotel is situated in the centre of the town you wouldn't know it from inside the room, very well sound proofed .

Very good location for a city trip to Edinburgh. We stayed for three nights and were VERY pleased with the service we received from the moment we arrived to the minute we left. All the staff we encountered within our stay were most helpfull and accommodating with good information to advice. The room was Excellent on the 6th floor towards...

We got a great deal on this hotel with a price that belies its upmarket status. It accepts dogs and was very welcoming to him. The staff were all genuinely helpful such as the concierge who found us places that would allow the dog to join us for food and drinks. Great room (I think we may have been upgraded...

Attended this hotel for an event, which was absolutely amazing. The bar next to function room did not sell fraught beer which meant you had to walk all the way to a different part of hotel. The door staff were atrocious and very rude making guests who were staying at the hotel leave with other guests. One of them even...

What a truly wonderful experience. From being greeted by the doorman, the charming lady on reception and the delight of my room. This trip was excellent. I was impressed with the decor of the room, the lovely touch of a free tuck box, the personalised china mugs, and the standard of the room. it was comfortable, modern and yet classic....

Well, we read the reviews before we went and they were all spot on. All members of staff were very pleasant and always had a smile and a good morning/afternoon. Breakfast was busy but very well organised. Our room was pleasant but the only couple of drawbacks were there wasn't a view and the bathroom was small.

We stayed here last weekend and had an amazing time! We arrived too early and were greeted by a lovely man at the door. We asked if they could keep our bags until check in time but to our surprise we could check in which was great! Check in was quick and the lovely receptionist showed us to our room....

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
