Booked this for myself and my partner for a short break in Edinburgh. Having read some of the reviews before travelling I was a little anxious. However,we were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were clean,if a little small, but ideal for two people. The kitchen area had everything we needed including a hob and oven. There was a tv downstairs and also one...

Booked the apartments for two nights for the Six Nations Rugby. They are in the perfect location for the Royal Mile, Princess Street and the Grass Market, ten minute walk to each location for the bars, restaurants and shops. The apartments we're spotlessly clean and fully loaded for our stay, the building is very secure, you get a key and...

These apartments are part of a block of student accommodation, with one floor dedicated to visitors to Edinburgh. It definitely felt like we were staying in student accommodation, with a general feeling of grubbiness and an airless atmosphere. The location of the apartments was handy enough and the staff on reception were exceptionally lovely. My main complaint was that our...

I stayed here as part of a larger group and we found it charming and comfortable. The staff were friendly, the bed was soft and, most importantly, it's VERY central. One friend had a small problem with her bathroom but the staff were quick to help.

Me and partner booked Richmond Place Apartments on the 23rd of January for 4 nights, we were looking for a cheap but nice place to stay, Richmond Place was exactly what we were after. The hotel is fairly central with a 2 minutes walk to South Bridge Street and a further 10 minute walk to Princes Street and Royal Mile....

My wife booked a two bed apartment for us and our 10-year-old daughter. Very clean and spacious with the kitchen with all the appliances, flatscreen TV, a large comfortable double bed on the second level and a sofa bed for my daughter which was more than adequate. Just up from the Northbridge at the end of Princes Street (maybe 10...

My husband had booked a last minute overnight stay on the 3rd of December, this would be our chance to celebrate Christmas as my mum starts 5 weeks intense cancer treatment on the 5th, tomorrow. We arrived at the hotel to a wonderful warm welcome and although we where almost 2 hours early for check in our room was ready,...

Stayed here for a Saturday night, whilst spending the weekend in central Edinburgh. The suite apartment was well presented, clean, tidy, comfortable and well designed; and overlooked the bustling street below, perfect for people watching.  Ideal location if you're basing yourself around the Royal Mile. Parking was easy enough and check in and out was no problem at all. Good...

Stayed there for a whole week. Nice staff, fast check-in. Ideal for a couple, good location and kitchen well equipped. Supermarkets near by. It was a pleasant acommodation but sound travels easily through the walls.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
