Arrived on the Friday evening - just a 5-10 minute walk from station. The staff were very welcoming and showed us the main features of our room. We were at the top of several flights of stairs and it's probably worth mentioning there's no lift. The hotel is right in the centre of Edinburgh and most of the sights are...

We stayed for three nights in room 9. As other reviews state, and the website, its three flights up with no lift which didnt bother us. The room is worth the climb. As other reviews also state, and the fact that its on the Royal Mile, it can be noisy due to traffic, pigeons, and people. We were prepared for...

This lovely, small hotel couldn't be more centrally located - close to the train station, along the Royal Mile between Holyrood Castle and Edinburgh Castle, across a bridge from the iconic Balmoral Hotel. The service is amazing - friendly staff, prompt room service. Climbing the stairs to my second floor room was a good workout, that compensated for the extra...

The Inn on the Mile is a great hotel. It's in the heart of the city so we ended up walking everywhere - the Edinburgh Castle, St. Giles' Cathedral, the Calton Hill, the palace, and all the shopping around in Lauriston. We stayed in a room on the second floor and our room was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and very...

Just called in for a pint or two in this nice pub/hotel. Apparently the hotel part is very good. The rooms look nice, but I've only seen photos. There is a table in the bar strictly reserved for people waiting to check in. Its a proper pub with a well stocked bar running the whole length of the room and...

We stayed at the Inn on the Mile for my wife's 30th birthday. When we arrived, I had pre ordered a bottle of prosecco to be in the room, which it was. The hotel had gone the extra mile and put chocolate covered strawberries in the room also; lush touch! The room was very clean, fresh in decor and comfortable....

Exceptional quality and service appears to be the norm at this hotel.Rooms are very private and in groups of three. There are nine rooms in total arranged on three floors. There in no lift, but the stairs are carpet covered and easy to manage I can honestly recommend this small smart hotel.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.

“Go for exec room as not big a difference in cost, we used a comparison site rather than booking direct. We were top floor and no noise.”

“We stayed in room 2. The view was fab and the bathroom was the biggest by far compared to the other 2 Rooms on the floor. We had a free standing bath and a walk in rain shower. The are white company toiletries and god straightened so it's well equipped. Room 2 is classed as a superior room, however it was well worth the money and would defiantly recommend to those wanting to stay in Edinburgh. There are a lot of stairs but as to be expected in a beautiful building such as this. There is no lift due to the hotel being a grade A listed property so if stairs aren't your thing, opt for a lower room number such as 1,2 or 3. ”
