Great hotel, staff couldn't do enough for you. Dinner was very good. Rooms spacious and bed and pillows comfortable. Well done - keep up the good work. Very helpful and kept our bags during the day after we had checked out.

Stayed here for one night with my partner. Check in service was very good and we were offered a welcome drink. We were checked into a room in the townhouse across the road. The room was nice enough, typical big hotel chain room. The bathroom was very fresh and nicely fitted. Bed was comfy enough. We didn't eat in the...

Visited for a short weekend break Friday-Saturday decided to stay a little out of the main part of Edinburgh so this location just 200 metres away from haymarket railway station was ideal Quite street location and appears to have two parts of the hotel either side of the street. staff warm and friendly greeting with a welcoming glass of whiskey...

We had a lovely weekend up in Edinburgh, the pictures online of the hotel looked good. The service from the front desk was very good. Our room was just very disappointing, it looked very tired and in much need of redecorating. The carpet looked frayed and dirty. There were holes next to the curtains, the windows were blocked up so...

My Christmas present from my husband a couple of nights away to a Hilton hotel! On check in the staff couldn't be more helpful, room not ready but we were early however if we waited a bit longer we could have an upgraded room. When we opened the door my husband was gutted at how grotty and rundown the room...

Booked a trip 3 months ago on a weekend deal. My girlfriend dislocated her knee the week before our visit. I called the hotel and they were able to give us an accessible room so she didn't have to struggle to get over the bath into a shower. When we checked in late Friday evening the two check in staff...

We stayed here for a weekend in January. The checkin process was very smooth and staff were very friendly. We had booked a small double and yes it was small but for mainly sleeping in suited us fine. However we were located on the top floor at the end of the corridor the room was quite close to the main...

Stayed here for 3 nights for my birthday. The place is awful. Got a good rate and was pleased. Until I checked in. Bathroom tiles had no grout. Shower was mouldy. Carpets were stained. The tv was fuzzy. Floor boards are so bad that when you walk around the room every thing wobbles and shakes. Every piece of furniture is...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
