Our friends had changed their wedding due to the lockdown and October was deemed a safer bet yet the day before wee nippy put the central belt into another lockdown. We arrived at the hotel with the knowledge that we couldn't go to the wedding and the hotel was not serving alcohol. We decided to go anyway and make the most of it. What I have done is score everything out of 5. Room size 4 Cleanliness 4 Staff 5 Lunch 5 Dinner 4 Breakfast 5 Dinner was a 4 only just as the food was nice enough but the wait was longer than we expected. This might have been due to minimal staff levels serving at dinner. The lack of alcohol being served is not reflected in any score. Room 219 was boiling all night long even with the window open and heating off. Breakfast was really nice and cheered me up after what was an uneventful peaceful stay. Our main aim for booking this hotel was to go to a wedding and have a great time but instead it was a really quiet overnighter. Nice enough to book again when the bars open.…
My husband and I stayed one night after the funeral of a very close family member. Accommodation and food all good but what really stood out was the quality of the staff and the service they provided. From the moment I phoned to enquire about the possibility of a very small family gathering after the funeral to the moment we left the day after the funeral the service was nothing short of excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, all the staff were both very professional and friendly and compassionate. While they were clearly understaffed, particularly in the evening, it did not affect the smiles on their faces nor their attention to customers. (Best Western, please take note, this hotel needs more staff.) We have nothing but praise for all the staff. They made what was a desperately sad time for our small family group as easy as possible. …
We stayed here for 5 nights with work and are going to do the same for next 7 weeks .Best hotel we have stopped at during the COVID rules since March Excellent food served fresh not frozen like many other hotels at the moment . Staff are friendly and attentive. Rooms are spotlessly clean large bed in mine and good space within the room with quality amenities to boot . Views down to Edinburgh are stunning as you are overlooking the city we walked into the centre a good walk of probably 2.5 miles All in all a very good best western hotel set in a lovely city
I recently stayed here for 14 nights on business. I was a little apprehensive with the Covid situation although no need as from the minute of arrival I was made to feel safe and all facilities were open. There was a warm professional welcome from Chloe. The room (228) was superb, with a large double bed, seating area and lovely views over the park and surrounding countryside. a huge bathroom with great facilities including large TV, fridge, kettle and super soft towels and bedding. All the staff were superb with a warm friendly smile from housekeeping to the very efficient waitering staff. The food was plentiful especially breakfast with the best poached eggs in Edinbrugh. The location is perfect for sightseeing with a regular bus and stop right outside the hotel and 20 minutes in to the centre. Car parking is free a bonus in this city and a lovely local town of Morningside with plenty of local shops, cafes and bars within a 5 minute stroll and 2 golf courses within 5 minutes drive. Overall a quality hotel with professional friendly efficient staff and good facilities. I strongly recommend the hotel for a stay outside of the hassle of the centre of the city. …
