Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile - Hunter Square garners high marks for its prime location, making it a favorite for those looking to explore the city. Guests have called out the hotel's cleanliness, noting the spotless state of both rooms and bathrooms. Despite the cozy and quirky charm of the accommodations, some visitors point out that the rooms are on the smaller side and lack certain amenities.
The service at the ibis receives applause, with the staff's exceptional friendliness and attentiveness frequently highlighted. However, opinions on value for money vary, with some guests feeling that the basic amenities do not always meet the cost, particularly during peak events.

This hotel is ideally located for visiting Edinburgh whether for leisure or business as it is located just off the Royal Mile, about half way along it. The rooms are basic but they are comfortable and have all the amenities a person could want. The staff are very friendly and efficient, a credit to Ibis Hotels. There is a small bar offers limited food however there are quite a number of pubs very nearby. Breakfast is buffet style, reasonable selection of hot and cold items so if touring Edinburgh sets you up well for the day and worth the cost. Easy access to local transport with main bus stop within 2-3 minutes walk (No 35 bus to visit Britannia is a must). Very near to main Waverley Station and about 15 mins walk to tram stop off for tram to Edinburgh Airport.

The hotel is in a very good location just off The Royal Mile and although basic it has everything you need for a break. We were initially disappointed as there were a few drunks drinking on the benches outside the hotel in Hunters Square and were concerned about safety and the noise however, despite them regularly being there they didnt cause a problem. The hotel was clean and all the staff were very welcoming and keen to help. The soundproofing in the room was excellent and despite being close to busy streets we didnt hear much noise and got good nights sleep. The room itself was basic and small but comfortable enough for our 4 night stay and the air conditioning was good as it kept the room at a nice temperature. We were pleasantly pleased with breakfast as it had far more to offer than we expected with cooked options of bacon, sausage, egg, beans along with fresh fruit, yogurt, toast etc. It was constantly being checked and replenished so that no matter what time you came for breakfast it was all quite fresh. Adrian deserves a special mention as he never stopped clearing tables and checking and replacing items and very friendly too. The hotel has a nice small bar with reasonably priced drinks but there are lots of bars close by and so good area for choice of places to eat and drink. The hotel is also easy to get to and from Waverley Station and so all in all good value.

Disappointing
We stayed last night in a Premium Double with a sofa bed. I emailed ahead and requested for a cot for our baby and this was kindly put in the room. We arrived at our room and the sofa bed was not made up (our baby often has sleepless nights and a sofa bed was helpful to co sleep which is why we chose this room) we contacted the hotel and explained this and also asked for an iron and ironing board as there wasn't one in the room and the lady on the phone asked us to come downstairs to collect.. This was near midnight as we had a late check in, she then eventually agreed to come up. I've attached a picture of the ironing board, the cover was seperate and wouldn't even stay on which the staff member actually handed us and said be careful as the iron cover falls off, it was practically impossible to iron on. Our bedding was handed to us with pillow cases and pillows seperate and no duvet cover.
The door in our room (201) doesn't lock properly and the rubber door seal was coming off.
The positives are that the room was spotless and the location is great now.... To top off our experience we asked a lady at reception if she could put a steam Sterilising bag in the microwave so we could sterilise our baby's bottle to feed her and this was refused. I understand especially with the current situation if this was food or something that needed to be handled but it wasn't a contamination risk and this meant that we were stuck feeding our baby.
Please put yourself in the shoes of a travelling parent, there are no microwaves in the public areas or in the rooms, what would you do different in order to sterilise your baby's bottles?

Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and we often got a friendly hello when seeing staff around the hotel.
The cleaners did a brilliant job, towels were replaced when required, tea cups changed and teas always stocked up.
The location is amazing (30 minutes Uber from the airport -about £25) and in walking distance from everything you need. There’s a Starbucks s few doors down for breakfast if you want a cheaper alternative to the hotel’s £10 breakfast, there’s also a Greggs and a Sajnsburys near for getting snacks or drinks for the room. We went to Civerinos (Italian pizza place) in our last night, which is right next door, and it was really great, I would recommend booking though as it seems very popular!
I couldn’t give the hotel 5 stars because we found it quite noisy - and not from street sound, we never heard any noise from the outside at all! It was groups of loud drunk people coming back from a night out at midnight and then 2 or 3am! I don’t mind a bit of noise, such as loud chatter on the way back to the room, we’ve all been there not realising how sound travels, but it sounded like they were camped outside our door for an hour, screeching and laughing (E.g whoever was shouting ‘Ellie!!!’ at the top of their lungs) they weren’t, god knows where they were but I was too tired and grumpy to investigate. Didn’t bring up to staff as not sure what they could’ve done in retrospect but maybe there needs to be some Premier Inn style ‘shhh people are sleeping’ signs about? Especially as there were taglines of ‘have a good sleep’ on the IBIS branding! It didn’t really affect our stay too much but we were both tired the next day and we couldn’t recommend it as a quiet hotel for a good sleep as we didn’t have one.
Apart from that though it was perfect!

Thank you for leaving your thoughts. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again in the future. Should there ever be noise that disturbs you within the hotel, please let staff know! As we do routine floor walks but sadly cant catch them all, but are more than happy to inform people of quiet time. We hope they didn't disturb you too much, and that the found Ellie (whoever they may be) and to welcome you back again in the future Kind regards, Ibis Team

The hotel has unique decorations and it’s great that you get £5 off food/drink if you stay more than one night and choose not to get your room cleaned.
However, while being served by a staff member, she was speaking french with another colleague and I had absolutely no idea what was going on. The bed wasn’t comfortable and the sheets felt “too dry” if that makes sense? They weren’t soft. The shower was blocked and you got two pillows on the bed plus one more, the pillows were too soft and my husband and I had to share the third one.
For breakfast, you also didn’t get the usual mushrooms, tomatoes etc. If you’re veggie and want a hot breakfast, you can really just get eggs and beans.
Overall, the stay was okay and the staff were nice but not sure I would stay at this particular hotel again.

We stayed in this Ibis on a Sunday night in August during Coronavirus restrictions. The hotel was clean and had all the necessary precautions in place, our room was clean and comfy and breakfast was good. Couldn't fault it especially the location.

On arrival there was a mix up with the booking however we resolved it to booking. Com issue.
Despite this the staff managed to allocate us a room quickly
The hotel is clean and a good base as it is just off the Royal Mile Close to the station also (short 5 min walk)
Comfy beds and good sized rooms for an ibis hotel
They have great security system in place and the staff are very friendly and welcoming
Only downside is breakfast is limited, would be nice to have a hot option or even continental meats ect
All in all a great stay and great price

Stayed here for 3 nights. Arrived at around 12:30pm and despite check in not being until 2pm there was a room available, which was great. If you do find yourself arriving before check-in and are eager to get out exploring there is a very handy bag drop room.
The room was clean and comfortable and more than adequate. However it was the location that made it for me. The hotel is situated right in the middle on Royal Mile and I was able to easily walk to all the main tourist attractions within 20 minutes.
Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone needing a basic but comfortable base for exploring Edinburgh.

We arrived pre check in time absolutely soaking wet as we walked from the tram stop, we thought we would be able to leave our suitcase until check in time......but no! The amazing receptionist (didn't get her name) said she would check if our room was ready and allowed us to check in!! This was very much appreciated and allowed us to settle in and get changed into dry clothes before we explored the City.
The location of this hotel is fantastic for the old town, the Castle and Grassmsrket and there are many restaurants and shops just outside the door.
It is not far from the train station and was walkable from Princes Street tram stop.
The room was quiet, clean and comfortable, yes it is not a large room and little things like dimmer lighting and a make up mirror in the bathroom would have improved it, but for a Central City Hotel it is very good value for money.
Cannot comment on Breakfast as we decided to eat out as there was so much on offer nearby.
I have given a 5 star rating, this isn't a 5 star hotel but for what you are paying for a City Hotel what you get is well worth 5 stars! Thank you!

Yes. We left bags.
Yes. They will keep bags.
We have a laundry service every day except Sundays and Bank Holidays. In the reception we provide a fabric laundry bag and a laundry slip where you can find the items to mark that you want to clean and the prices. If you bring the bag at the reception before 8 am, it will arrive the same day after 7.00 pm.
Another option is have a wee trip to Adagio Apartahotel in Cannongate (6 min walking) because they have laundry machines and that's the information about the prices:
• £3 to wash, £2 to dry. £1 coins only for the machines
• 30 minutes cycles, so in total 1 hour for wash + dry
• They do provide changes to break down Sterling Pounds notes to £1 coins
Our hotel has 2 lifts for all 6 floors.
Thank you for your inquiry! While we don't have traditional air conditioning, we've implemented an innovative air cooling system that adjusts to the seasonal temperatures, ensuring a comfortable environment year-round. Additionally, for guests who prefer extra cooling during warmer periods, we provide electric fans. Likewise, for those chilly nights, our portable heaters are readily available to keep you cozy. We aim to ensure your stay is pleasant and tailored to your comfort preferences.
