Couldn't fault the location with the exception of the late night noise coming from the 'The Tron' which is a pub / nightclub after hours. Enjoyed a daily run from hotel, up to the castle, down to the Palace and back to the hotel. The hotel was very clean and modern, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast tasty...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 1 week ago

In decor, this is much like any other Ibis hotel, of course - clean, comfortable and functional. However, the welcome at this Ibis was like no other that we have received - nothing is too much trouble for the staff. This is good staff training, as it doesn't just apply to one or two members of staff, but to everyone....

Modern, clean, with attentive and efficient staff and located within a stone's throw of the Royal Mile. An ideal base to tour the city with many attractions within walking distance. Room size was adequate and well equipped. The bathroom. although compact, was also modern and well laid out. The breakfast buffet selection was very good. All in all, a good...

This is a clean hotel which is close to all tourist attractions. The breakfast was very good and better than advertised. The beds are comfortable. They offer late check out which is also useful. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Situated in the heart of the Royal Mile, fantastic location in the old town. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. Modern looking hotel, staff were always on hand at reception, and always polite and attentive. The room itself was not huge but clean and plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom quite spacious and again very clean. Would definitely...

Excellent experience. Undoubtedly the best location, especially because most tours start right around the corner. The staff was really welcoming and always willing to help out. The continental breakfast is very good and complete, there's always someone refilling things when there's little left. We also tried the pizza one night and it was very good. The look of the hotel...

This is one of a number of Ibis hotels in Edinburgh, situated at the top of the very popular High Street and Royal Mile area. The hotel has recently had a makeover and gives the impression of high tech functionality with a retro feel -think 1960s Formica. Reception is an open plan desk and the receptionists check in with their...

Excellent location, right off the royal mile. Very accommodating and attentive staff. Modern and very comfortable decor. If you are taking the tram from the airport, get off at Princes Street. Much easier walk than from St. Andrews square stop.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
