Very smart hotel with lovely room and good facilities within the room. Car parking facilities are good - free and in two locations which are both nearby. Staff are very helpful and polite. Restaurant onsite.

We stayed at the Dunstane for four nights and had a very good experience overall. The hotel is boutique in style, consisting of two large town houses. The rooms were elegantly finished, with big, clean and modern bathrooms (only lacking a night light - please add them!). We were worried about noise when we arrived as our rooms were facing...

Myself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights in April for my 21st birthday and the experience was perfect from start to finish. We arrived early so our room was not ready, so our bags were kept behind reception while we went out in to the city centre. The girls on reception were incredibly helpful and polite and gave...

Delicious breakfast served, so fresh and lots of local ingredients. Very friendly and helpful staff too. First of all I have to say that the women staff like Samantha and Rachel were very professional and kind with our family and did their best to do their job. Although we were dissapointed because we thought we booked the rooms at the nice building which you can see in the pictures of their internet site, it turned out...

Really friendly and serviceminded staff, beautiful room and close to city center. Easy to take the buss or walk to the city center. During our stay it was hot summer weather, but with windows open at night we managed well without airconditioning. Small and cosy, but elegant at the same time. Can recommend!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
