We have stayed at Channings multiple times. The first time it was very difficult to find, but after that it has been a snap. They have a favorite room that works for us and we plan to return soon. It is well worth getting a bit out of the city. A lovely experience.

What a great hotel! The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful, with a very good choice. The brasserie was equally as fine. Our room was warm, comfortable and had a lovely view over to Fife (when the little bit of mist dispersed!). Staff were helpful and friendly. We sat by the (mock-coal) fire on a cosy lounge whilst having a "wee...

My first time at an Ascend Property. I know Cambria's are the top tier of Choice and I love the ones I've stayed at, but this was my first Ascend and its less corprorate like and feels more like a bed and breakfast. Very nice change of pace. The rooms were very nice, as well as the common spaces. The...

Lovely hotel. Nice staff, the hotel lounge and the rooms are very well decorated. The room is super cozy, It feels almost like a apartment, but with no kitchen. It's a romantic hotel and great to go as a couple.

Hotel is made of a two large 4-storey houses. Its furnishing is in a good condition, staff is nice and helpful. Location is not too central, you have to walk about 20mins to get to the city center up via a larger hill. But its a great walk. If you want to stay in the vicinity of the hotel you...

Channings is ideally located, not far from the West End of Princes Street. It has an excellent restaurant and the bar prices are reasonable. A very good breakfast menu is provided. The main attractions of the city are easily visited.

Very good value for money. Very comfortable beds. Helpful staff and very quiet. Close to both centre of town and Stockbridge. Requires a short walk from the main bus routes but worth it. If you need a good nights sleep stay here.

Nice hotel in a quiet but convenient location, comfortable and spacious room though decor a little faded, lovely bathroom. Breakfast good, but not outstanding. Service could not be faulted. Overall very good value for money in Edinburgh.

Booked this hotel as a Christmas present for my husband and I couldn't fault it in any way when we arrived the receptionist told us we had been given a free upgrade to the James caird room which was a lovely spacious room with a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was lovely with everything from continental to full Scottish. Would highly recommend...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
