I spent 3 nights here in May on a city break with my wife and 2 children (aged 9 and 12). The apartment was clean, spacious and well kept. The decor is more traditional than contemporary but neutral and inoffensive. The reception team are very customer focused and professional. This is a great base to explore beautiful Edinburgh about 10...

My young adult children and I recently stayed at the Knight Residence in Edinburgh. The staff was outstanding. The front desk clerks were very helpful with calling taxis for us or giving us directions. The housekeeping staff kept our apartment very clean. This hotel is wonderful for a family. We had two bedrooms, a den/dining area and a well stocked...

A stay in an apartment is different than a stay in a hotel, but this property combines the best of both. Being greeted by Chris who gave us a full on tour, to the lovely shortbread, tea, cereal welcome basket, to clean, comfy beds and a great space -- there's nothing but positive comments from us. We're a family of...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on 14th and 15th June whilst getting our kids christened in the city. The reception we received on arrival was excellent. Friendly and professional. The rooms are well equipped for a short stay, the staff polite, always on hand but not intrusive. It is just a short 10 minute walk from the Grassmarket,...

The Knights Residence was the perfect place for our stay since I was traveling with a teenager. My travel agent at Liberty Travel, had recommended this option so that we could each have a separate bedroom but stay together. The space was like a home, with full kitchen, living room with TV and DVD player, large bathroom and two comfortable,...

We used the Knight residence as our base to explore Edinburgh. Our welcome was warm and informative and the suite spacious and serviced well. The kitchen facilities with the welcome breakfast grocery basket and Sainsbury's a minute away allowed us to self cater inexpensively. Make sure you turn on the kitchen exhaust fan when cooking and close the door to...

The Knights Residence served as an excellent hub for our first visit to Edinburgh. The location was perfect for exploring old town. Chris met us and immediately gave us a tour of the apartment. This place had everything we needed and more. After 10 days in the UK, the washer/ dryer was invaluable. Very comfortable and perfect for a family...

I am so happy that we found the Knight Residence. It was difficult (as it is in Europe) to find an affordable two bedroom with larger beds (one had a queen bed and one with two twins together, comprised a king bed). The hotel is conveniently located - just south of the Royal Mile and the Castle. Within walking distance...

Super fresh and spacious with all the equipment you can think of. And the staff was very nice and helpful. One simply can not wish for more! An added bonus was the breakfast ingredients. We did not actually even have go to the supermarket (which was very close btw). Plenty of restaurants nearby and just a short walk to Edinburgh...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
