Fantastic two bedroom apartment. Great to have a shower and a bath. Spotlessly clean and perfect for what we needed. Great being able to park onsite. We were met in the car park by a member of staff with our keys to save us walked by over to reception. Recommended.

Regular annual visitors to Edinburgh, we couldn't get in at previous accommodation, but saw The Knight Residence whilst trawling the interweb. How please were we with everything? Totally. Great private secure parking at reasonable cost, close to Old Town, handy for Sainsburys for essentials/emergencies (usually wine!). We were very well received, assisted to park and shown up to our 4th floor apartment which had absolutely everything - even fresh milk and butter were in the fridge. It was easy to walk into the Grassmarket, but the facilities were so good you could hole up there and self cater if you wanted to. Highly recommended

Fantastic stay at the Knights Residence. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment which was spacious and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and washer/dryer. Food shopping was made easy with a local Sainsbury's supermarket on the corner and the welcome basket provided breakfast for our first day, which was a lovely treat. The apartment was very clean, with a separate waste bin for recycling. The apartment had a DVD player and a vast choice of DVD's to choose from in reception. We brought our own HDMI cable and laptop so we could stream Netflix etc. We appreciated having secure car parking for the duration of the visit. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, in close walking distance of the castle and Grassmarket and about a 30 min walk to the Botanical Gardens and Arthur's Seat. Plenty of restaurants close by to choose from. Highlights of our visit to Edinburgh were the Botanical Gardens, National Museum of Scotland and Camera Obscura.

Although the apartment was clean and beds were comfortable and everything was in good shape and the apartment was well stocked with some supplies. The check-in was not straightforward abd luckily we arrived before the check in closes otherwise we could not have figured out the parking, secondary building location, other important things. Our apartment was in second building with really poor views and given there were a few gentlemen’s club right next to the building there was a lot of noise late in night. The building is not aur conditioned. Also the 3 bedroom apartment was set up for four people (4 plates, 4 glasses etc) which was a bit surprising. Also the spoons and fork caddy from dishwasher was missing. The worst part was cleaning, we were told that it is every second day and during the 3 night stay we only got fresh towels on the second day when the service was due despite the fact that we asked both the reception and housekeeping supervisor. Check out time at 10am is disappointing given the check-Ins are at 4pm onward.

Location of the building is close to the castle and city center and main attractions a short walk, open parking was ample with charging ports as well which is a plus. If the check in process, house keeping and other issues highlighted above are addressed it’s not a bad option but I felt disappointed.

Response from David Borland, General Manager at The Knight Residence by Mansley
Responded 18 Jul 2022
Dear Sajix, Thank you for taking time to review the Knight Residence In Edinburgh. I am really sorry that you experienced some issues when staying with us. When we have a late check in we send full instructions of how to access the apartments. The apartment is a complex and as such there are additional entrances and exits which you may use. This is all explained in the email sent to guests arriving after reception closes. We are reviewing our reception times and we had reduced them during the challenging Covid period. In relation to the plates and cutlery, the apartment was checked and had more than 4 sets of cutlery and crockery. I apologise if this was not shown to you on your visit and I will review this with our reception team. In relation to the service, we did attend the apartment and my colleague in housekeeping felt that replacing towels was all that was needed during that visit. I will be speaking to the housekeeping management and reviewing how we service. I am sorry you feel there was too much noise in the area. The bars are all well policed and managed, however given the weather and the people wanting to be outside, this can sometimes increase background volume. Should you wish to discuss this further with me, please feel free to contact me directly at the property. Kindest regards, David

I hope that I can perhaps help others who may be considering spending their hard earned cash to book these serviced apartments.

I really do wonder if we are staying in the same place as some of the 5 star reviews . We remain perplexed.

I will share some pictures and share our experience and I hope that helps.

We booked a 2 bed comfort apartment (the upgraded apartments with 2 bathrooms).

There is nothing 5 star about the whole place maybe 3 star which is generous.
The title of the apartment sounds impressive and quite glamorous but it is sadly neither.
LOCATION- great for the Old Town and Grassmarket.
It's best feature. Please note there are 3 lap dancing venues (or similar) on the doorstep which to be honest caused us no issues but may put some people off.
STANDARD of accommodation is very poor .The furniture and fittings are shabby and beyond looking presentable. We did think the communal areas looked more like a hostel but didn't expect our apartment to be quite so abysmal.
STANDARD of hygiene falls way beyond acceptable at any time but even more worrying with current circumstances. We fully understand during our stay that cleaning staff would not service the apartment but between stays it is absolutely essential.

A call to reception brought the arrival of the Head of House Keeping to our apartment after checking in. This did happen quickly However the young gentleman seemed quite disinterested and agreed he himself would not accept such standards.
It was agreed a " Deep clean " would happen the following day. The deep clean certainly did involve cleaning the hobb in the kitchen which was absolutely disgusting and perhaps a quick vacuum.
We were also supplied with extra towels which was meant to be only available by contacting reception no less than every 2 days (per Head housekeeping).
The place remained dirty and i sent pictures to the Operations Manager and heard no more. I advised that only if he failed to respond would I resort to having to post this on TA. I would have preferred for this to be resolved rather than having to post this. The lack of interest or care by staff from reception to Management speaks for itself.
We sadly will not return or recommend.

My friends and I stayed at the Knights for 3 nights. The location is really good as it is very close to all attractions and it is very accessible for commute too. They supplied as with breakfast foods which is a plus as when we arrived it was raining heavily and we're so hungry and can't go out. They were also attentive to our needs plus we get room service everyday. I would stay here again if i were to go back to Edinburgh.

We stayed here for 6 nights in Apartment 9 on the 3rd floor, a one bedroom apartment. We pre-booked parking at £12.50 a night, the car park is very secure and safe behind electric gates. Our apartment overlooked the street but didn't get too noisy either during the day or at night. The apartment was lovely, a good size and very comfortable. Some basic items were there ready for you and they give you some fresh milk when you arrive. There is a Sainsburys just around the corner with everything you would need. The apartment was spotless and well maintained, the location is very good, we walked everywhere - to the Castle, Grassmarket, Old town, New town, everything is very close. The staff at the apartments are very helpful and friendly, happy to give out maps and directions if needed. Would stay here again if we return to Edinburgh.

After travelling a considerable distance it was great to land here and find in the apartment milk, sugar, coffee, both caffinated and decaffinated, and tea including fruit and herbal flavours. There is also bread, butter and cereals. If these are not to your liking there is a Sainsbury store a couple of minutes walk away. The living room is spacious and the kitchen well equiped. The bathroom has essentials including shampoo and shower gel.The bedroom is very comfortable. The hall is great for leaving outdoor shoes and coats.Princess Street is a walkable distance but should you prefer taxis are always available. The apartments are quiet and we have always enjoyed a good nights sleep. We have stayed here many time and can thoroughly recommend Knight Residence

The property is in a great location, just beside Grassmarket where there are tonnes of nice bars, pubs and restaurants. The nicest part of the city to stay in my opinion. Our taxi cost us £22 from the airport.

All staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. We were too early to check-in, but the nice chappy at reception held our bags until our room was ready and then moved them up there for us when it was.

The apartment itself was extremely well-appointed. You could easily stay comfortably for a week. There was fresh milk, tea, coffee and plenty of toiletries, aswell as robes and slippers!

There is a coffee machine downstairs with an honesty box, so you can grab a coffee to go on your way out.

There is a Sainbury's around the corner for you to stock up.

We loved it here and will definitely stay again!

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment, a fabulous place with everything you could possibly need. Toiletries in the bathroom were fabulous,
The tea and coffee supplies were a very welcome sight on arrival, we appreciated the pint of milk.
Everything was clean, furniture is good quality.
We used the car park, it was very secure and great value, even had an EV charger.
Easy walking distance to the Castle and city centre, even felt safe and well lit in the evenings.
The staff were excellent, from booking to the concierge all friendly, polite and very knowledgeable. Would have confidence in booking again.

Is there secure parking ?

Yes, there is secure gated parking at The Knight Residence by Mansley. Parking is charged at £12.50 per night

The extra bathroom is the main thing. City Apartments are in the main building where the reception is, comfort apartments are in adjacent annexe buildings. They layout is different although room sizes are all similar. Comfort apartments are designed for a slightly longer stay length with larger wardrobes, a full sized dishwasher (City have a slimline model) and a full freezer (City have a freezer compartment). In terms of specifications and equipment the apartments are otherwise mostly identical. Hope it helps!
