Stayed for a couple of nights in February. The hotel still has lots of original features but has recently had a makeover making it a very pleasant place to stay. With its proximity to the railway station it is a very convenient and comfortable place to stay.

Stayed here for a mini break in February. It is so easy to find, straight opposite the station. The hotel still retains much of its original features but has also got a modern updated look. The room we had was airy, spacious and clean with a great view of Princes street and all the sights. It was a very pleasant...

Stayed for 3 nights in January. Hotel is newly refurbished and we thought it was lovely, although the room was a little small, but beautifully furnished. Breakfast was excellent, cocktail bar very popular and busy. Great location if travelling by train as its literally 3 minutes from the station. Would stay again.

From the minute we walked through the door the hotel was amazing, Fiona on reception was very attentive and keen to help both me and my girlfriend including giving us a map of the full city and the best places to eat in and around the hotel. We did choose to eat in the restaurant within the hotel 20 princes...

We had a lovely meal for a room service and spent some time in the bar.. Try the cocktails they are lush!...

This is without a doubt the best and friendliest run hotels I ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Situated opposite the main entrance to Waverley Station, 20 or 30 buses stop almost adjacent to the front door (certainly within 100 yards) and just around the corner from the tram which goes directly to the airport. Plenty of eateries...

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo on Princes Street for 2 nights. Excellent location on Princes Street opposite Waverley Station & opposite the Scott Monument. The hotel itself was stunning. I loved the attention to detail. The hotel carried a literary theme... pictures of great authors on the walls. Check in was easy, everyone was so helpful. Our room was...

This is a hotel that should definitely be reached by train and not by car. The station is directly across the road whereas the car park is hard to find and a ten minute walk away walking up a steep hill. The location of the hotel is fantastic and you really could not ask for a better base. The hotel...

The perfect central Edinburgh location, about 100m from Waverley station. And at £121 for a Saturday night, a bargain too. Not a huge room, but modern & clean, everything worked, and nice bathroom with a walk in shower... couldn't ask much more for a city destination. Friendly, helpful staff too.

Four of use stayed at Hotel Indigo for on Saturday night. Ideal location for a tourist. The city sight seeing buses are just across the street and you are placed between new and old town within walking distance of both. We arrived early and were bale to check in which was great. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful and...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
