Never been to Edinburgh before and I really want to return. The hotel was perfectly positioned to get to the tour buses, but everything is really is walkable. Staff very welcoming. Only ate breakfast, but croissants were lovely and fresh. Definitely recommend

As always my group was well looked after, excellent service and great quality food. We had the private dinning room, all my guests thought it was an outstanding venue and a memorable experience. Can not rate it hight enough.

We have been several times to our favourite Edinburgh hotel and again we were given Room 16 Princess Anne's room. It was my wife's birthday during the weekend and after settling in after arriving we were pleasantly surprised when 2 glasses of champagne were brought to the room as a gift from staff. We like the room with it's beautiful...

This was our first visit to the Club and we were not disappointed. All the staff were very helpful and attentive. Accommodation and food was of a high standard and the location was perfect. Would highly recommend the Royal Scots Club.

The Royal Scots Club hotel was nice, very conveniently located and we were pleased with the accommodation which was very reasonably priced. The breakfasts were always well cooked and the staff were largely pleasant. Overall our stay was good but there are some minor issues that stopped us from having a truly satisfactory experience. Whilst we recognise that a fire...

The room was beautiful the bed extremely comfortable the reason for poor sleep rating nothing to do with bed, however at 5:45am smoke alarm went off and hotel was evacuated (false alarm) not the club's fault. Excellent overall

The Royal Scots Club offers good accommodation, perfectly situated on a fairly quiet residential street within Edinburgh's New Town, Ideal for getting around town without any transport. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Would recommend.

From the moment we checked-in we knew we were staying in a hotel steeped with excellent service and fabulous heritage. We stayed for two nights on a B&B basis in Room 16 (four poster bed) and cannot fault any aspect of our stay. Our room was very grandeur, similar to the hotel itself. Yes there may have been areas in...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
