The best thing about Royal Scots club was the location - very central, easy to find. The reception staff and staff serving breakfast were helpful. However, the bathroom was dirty - the bath had not been cleaned at all and I had to pull a mass of hair out of the plughole. This is not what you pay for. Bed...

Excellent club atmosphere at a good price. Excellent food answer clean elegant rooms make this our must use hotel in Edinburgh. Location is right in town but off the main roads so it is quiet at night but close to everything. Parking is the only issue so pay attention to the time.

Located on the northern edge of Queen Street Gardens, the RSC offers a good welcome to guests and provides comfortable and clean accommodation. The classic rooms overlook the gardens (for which a key may be obtained at reception) and can become noisy from traffic. However, the quality of service and presentation of meals in the dining room are very good....

Excellent service staff. In the center of town. Sweet and savory breakfast, with hot dishes to order. Big bedroom with double bed. Bathroom, hairdryer. Very quiet place inside and from the outside too. We were awakened by the singing of the birds.

The hotel locates in very good place, central part of Edinburgh. From hotel to any historical part - less than 15 min. Hotel has not parking. Parking around hotel is very expensive - 3 pp per hour. And for 4 hours maximum. Most rooms are in basement. So I cannot say nothing about room. Heating - by electric heater. So...

The hotel was nice for a short stay. The room was clean and very big. Perfect for three people. I loved that the hotel is situated just in the city center, 10min away from the main trainstation. The breakfast wasn't that good. We expected more different foods.

Told the property wasn't a hotel, that it was a club and we weren't welcome to use any of the public areas in Easter Sunday. Duty manager literally chased us from room to room, till we have up and our 2 families are Easter dinner on the floor of our room.

We stayed 8 nights with our teenage children and had a wonderful stay! The staff at the front desk and the restaurant and bar were extremely friendly and helpful. Check in and Check out took less than 3 minutes. We had two different rooms and both were large and comfortable.

I really like this place, it's founded as a members club but you can also have a visit/book hotel rooms. Great service and a lounge there you can have some drinks. In the neighbourhood theres a green park.

The building my be a bit old, but that's part of the experience. Loved the building, location, and the feel of the place. What really made it special was the super helpful staff. In addition, we had breakfast as part of our stay, and the food and the formal dining room were a great way to start each morning. Would...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
