If you don't mind an abrasive innkeeper, no soap in your room, low water pressure, a not-so-clean room, a TV with a picture that fades in and out, and most importantly the faint smell of cigarette smoke wafting through the air, then this place is for you. I wouldn't stay here again.

I was booked into the Elas Guesthouse by International Friends on a tour to Edinburgh. I thought the idea of staying in a charming B&B would be cool. I was a single on the tour. If my wife had been with me I'm sure we would have checked out but I decided I could bear the two nights I was...

My daughter and I spent 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) at Elas B&B in Edinburgh in September 2014 with a group tour. Teresa and Peter (our hostess and host) went out of their way to make us comfortable and answer all of our questions about visiting Edinburgh. Their home is lovely; simply charming. The dining room was beautifully appointed and...

My two girlfriends and I stayed at this guest house for two nights. We knew it was only a 1 star accomodation, but thought that after requesting an upgrade to 2 private rooms it would be OK. Instead we were forced to stay in one cramped room - the alternative would have meant one of us bunking in with a...

Teresa and Peter are kind caring hosts, always help full and considerate. Standards of cleaning never an issue. Breakfasts amazing. On our...

Stayed at this guest house for five nights and was well pleased. Made to feel very welcome. Staff were extremely courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Nice large room with a really pleasant view. Good central location. I cannot understand some of the other reviews. Hard to believe these people stayed at the same place!

- makes you feel unwelcomed with her unsmiling face - smokes in the house, therefore a stale cigarette stench lingers in the air - served breakfast with some stale butter. Rolls were too hard to be edible. - there's dust everywhere in the room. Left a wet bath towel on the chair and part of it turned black from picking...

Stayed for two nights on my own. My booking was last minute and was very cheap so I thought "brilliant" and went for it. Upon entering I detected a faint, strange smell - perhaps an old cooking smell I thought. The house seems to be full of old ornaments and paintings - including a marble bust beside the front door...
