Wilde Aparthotels in Edinburgh's Grassmarket area is lauded for its modern, stylish atmosphere and comfortable rooms equipped with kitchenettes. Guests have called out the friendly and attentive staff, although some have experienced service delays.
While the central location near attractions is highly praised, opinions on value and noise levels are mixed; some guests find the hotel affordable with great inclusions, yet others expect more for the price and note the potential for street noise. Despite the occasional cleanliness concern, the overall cleanliness of the hotel earns positive remarks.

Hotel's Favourite
I recently stayed at Wilde Aparthotel Edinburgh with my partner for two nights.
As the name suggests this is hotel with mini apartments, so you get the best of both worlds. The option for self catering with the usual services of a hotel.
We have previously stayed at Wilde Aparthotel Manchester and had a great experience there too.
On our arrival in Edinburgh we were given a lovely friendly welcome by the staff on reception. They asked what had brought us to the city and I replied that we were visiting for my birthday.
Their response was to offer us a welcome drink on the house and locate us in one of the hotel's fantastic Castleview rooms.
The hotel was well presented and the standard of service from the staff was brilliant throughout.
The hotel itself is located past the top of Royal Mile just beyond the castle, hence the view from some of the rooms, making the location quiet but only a short five minute walk back into the old city.
Special thanks to Kat for looking after us, it was much appreciated ... We'll be back!

My family and I stayed for 3 nights.
The location is very good a minute from the main Grassmarket area with the restaurants and bars. It is 5 minutes from the royal mile and you also have a good view of the castle. The added bonus is the discounted car parking at a good NCP just down the road with an £18 per day saving.
The room was very modern clean and comfortable. Loved the kitchenette to make drinks and enjoy a light breakfast. When all you want is cereal this is brilliant. The fridge was a good size and you simply put your pots into the dishwasher. Perfect!
The shower was good and the beds were comfortable. My boys had to share a double sofa bed when we had booked two singles due to an error on Hotels.com website. The staff did offer us an additional room free of charge but in reality it was no major hardship.
The staff were really obliging and helpful.
The only thing I would say is that we found it odd to have the super king size bed pushed into a corner. This meant you had to climb over the other person or slide to the bottom. There was also only a light switch on one side of the bed. I know it is trying to be state of the art with fancy panels controlling everything but it does mean a basic requirement is missing. I am nitpicking though!
If we return to Edinburgh, we would stay here again,

My husband and I finally managed to get away after trying all year, but with all the Covid issues, like everyone else holidays have been very difficult.
So initially we booked a hotel room, one which had been booked in January for a trip to Edinburgh in July, then due to restrictions this was altered to October. A week before travelling we received an email saying that they could not accommodate us in the hotel but would find us somewhere else, which they did not do 😡 So a day before we were due to travel we booked an appointment with Wilde Apartment in Grassmarket, Edinburgh. We booked directly with the company, which was easy and cheaper than booking anywhere else.
So a bit apprehensive as last minute booking, but booked a room with view of the Castle. We arrived 15 mins early and the staff were so helpful and checked with housekeeping that the room was ready. The COVID restrictions were explained clearly and two electronic cards were then given.
The day after checking in was my husband’s birthday and the staff got him a card and gave him two little bottles of Prosecco, this was totally out of the blue and so nice of them, made you feel very welcome. The staff also helped carry the breakfast bag and hot drinks up to room.
The room itself is very comfortable and has everything you’ll need. The view of the castle from 310 is a good view, but you’ll have to sit on the end of the bed to see if, but it’s a great view and can get good photograph of the castle. The bed is huge and comfortable, we were really happy with the location of the apartment too, some great pubs and places to eat close by, highly recommend Amber restaurant and whisky experience, my husband loved it and even though I’m not a whisky drinker I too found it fascinating.
All in all after the disaster of the first place letting us down just before we travelled, we’re so glad they did as we have stayed in a much better place now. Thank you Wilde Apartment staff for looking after us so well and being so friendly and helpful, highly recommend.

Dear Voyage529171, Thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am delighted that you found us and we were able to turn your booking disaster from a different hotel into a really great stay! It is lovely to hear that you got into your room early and that the team were friendly and helpful, I will certainly pass on these kind words to them. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the views from the room of the castle, we are very fortunate to have such a prime location in Edinburgh with the castle as the view out many of our windows. It is great that your husbands birthday was such a great success and that you enjoyed this with us. We look forward to welcoming you back to Wilde very soon. Kind regards and best wishes, Lindsay, Operations Manager

Having had a trip to Portugal cancelled due to Covid-19 travel restrictions we decided to visit Edinburgh for a 4 night staycation and chose to stay at the Wilde Aparthotel as we enjoy the freedom of self catering and having seen the many positive reviews.
The Wilde Aparthotel is situated very close to the Grassmarket area with many lovely bars and restaurants within easy reach, and sits in a quiet location at the foot of Edinburgh Castle. Princes Street can be reached fairly easily on foot by heading left out of the hotel and walking through the St Cuthberts Churchyard and into Princes Street Gardens.
We chose a studio room with a castle view and were placed on the top floor (4th), the room was spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. The kitchen was fitted out with everything you could need (fridge, dishwasher, combi microwave oven etc all by Smeg). There was even a pint of milk and 2 bottles water in the fridge, for us which was a nice touch along with tea bags and a Nespresso coffee machine and pods. There was even some washing up liquid and a dishwasher tablet provided.
The bathroom had an excellent shower and there were lovely toiletries provided.
The bed was huge and super comfortable too.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and keen to promote their city.
Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions the cafe, bar and lounge areas were closed, however things are available to order to take back to your room, they even provide meal kits to heat up.
We can't recommend the Wilde Aparthotel highly enough.

An absolutely brilliant mini break in Edinburgh . The hotel was fab . The staff were so welcoming , helpful and had great knowledge of the local area. The room was spacious, incredibly clean and had everything you could possibly need for a short or long stay we could even see the castle ! The kitchen was fully equipped , there was a iron and ironing board , hairdryer , tv and ample wardrobe space. The shower was fantastic with both an overhead shower and a shower head as options and the hotel provided toiletries were to a high standard and smelt great . There is also a gym and laundry room which are great additions to the stay. Breakfast was £12.50 pp and a buffet with an ample selection of delicious food , hot and cold drinks . A special mention goes to Rebecca who went out of her way to make our stay as lovely as possible- thank you for the birthday wishes , directions , recommendations and taxi. We visited the castle and walked down the royal mile visiting all the main attractions on our way right down to the Scottish Parliament , palace of Holyroodhouse and Arthur’s Seat . We found the shopping on prince’s street , George street and Multrees walk the best and would thoroughly recommend staying at the hotel for a good base to all areas . Thank you again

To start with we arrived in Edinburgh by train, being only around 10 minutes walk from the station and being basically in Grassmarket we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The hotel itself has a classy atmosphere about it and this understated elegance continues through to the rooms. Little things such as the soaps and shampoos made the all the difference for us, they smelled fantastic and were of good quality. The bed was comfortable and large, with touch switch control panels for the lights and air conditioning making for an easy and restful nights sleep. The television has built in chrome cast, allowing me and my partner to watch a bit of our favourite tv shows while we kicked back after a long day exploring everything Edinburgh has to offer. I’m finishing I would say I highly recommend this hotel based on location, style and comfort. The staff were also incredibly accommodating and the finishing touch of storing our bags for us while we explored on our last day before our train was lovely.

We were very impressed as soon as we arrived. The friendly and helpful staff helped up check in then personally showed us to our studio apartment on floor 3. The room was immaculate, modern and was also impressed with the touch pads installed to control the lights, air con and even the blinds! A 24 hour pantry is available for you to purchase food. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff from upon arrival to check out were freindly and helpful.
The room was lovely. It's a nice size, the kitchen had everything you needed for a short break, we just used the kettle and toaster and fridge.
The bed in the room is an odd design, if you are sleeping next to the window you have to scoot down to the bottom of the bed to get out or get your glass of water or phone, no biggy though.
The location is just under the castle, so if you are exploring Edinburgh just head towards the castle and your back to base. Just up the road is Grassmarket with plenty of pubs and restaurants.
Just a word of caution on parking. We pre-booked the NCP Castle Terrace as it was a 6 nations weekend and I wanted to ensure we had somewhere to park, if you do this you can't get half price parking from the hotel. I got my parking validated and ended up paying another £28, I took this up with NCP and got it re-funded but ended up paying full price for the 48 hours we were there.

Positives
Good location
Clean (except for bathroom door which had lots of stains)
Comfy bed
Good quality of kitchen appliances
Negatives
No information on a board in the room or in the hotel room about basic things like gym opening hours, cleaning schedule (it is once a week), emptying bins, etc. You can find the information online when you log in with the hotel's WiFi
We booked 4 nights and the room did not have the things you need for that period for two people. The rooms are not cleaned for a week so you cannot get things supplied unless you ask... there was one dish washer tablet, two toilet rolls, a couple of bags of sugar, a couple of Nespresso pods, etc. So you need to call reception to get basic things which feels a bit awkward. I ended up buying some things in the supermarket to avoid calling reception again.
Worth the stay for the location but a shame they don't have what you need in the room for your stay.

This place is amazing and one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The staff are amazing and always greet you around the hotel and are very helpful. We didn't try any of the food as the room was equipped with a mini kitchenette where we could cook ourselves breakfast in the morning. We opted for a castle view which was lovely when the weather wasn't raining! The beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were spotless. The tv was in an odd place from the bed but didn't bother us too much as we weren't here to watch tv! We couldn't really get the heating to work the way we wanted but we were out for most of the day anyway and i do like my rooms very warm usually! We also used the laundry which was £4 per wash and we bought some detergent from a nearby poundland. We didn't use the gym but did look virtually empty. The location was fabulous for all our needs and we even paid for a late checkout for £10ph. We would definitely stay again and would like to try the other wilde apartments in different cities.

It is but when I was there none of the dryers worked so i had to hang all my clothes in my room. Not sure if that’s been corrected. It also costs a small fortune and bring your own soap to save a buck
We used Uber, and found it to be less expensive than a taxi.
We had accessable studio as all they had left and the bed was big 7 foot long but high
