Very disappointing to find that I had been charged £35 following my visit and no idea what for! On enquiring at the hotel what the charge was for I was duly told 'bottle of wine'! Really before I had even given date of visit or name or room number! Very suspicious! Also the fact that I don't actually drink made...

We booked a Malmaison special offer mid week break to include cocktails, dinner and breakfast Overall I think good value for money. The evening meal and the breakfast are nothing special but are ok. If I was going again I would choose to eat elsewhere. The building itself is nice and there was a lovely atmosphere with plenty of people...

We booked 2 rooms - one for us and one for 2 teenage children for a short break between Christmas & New Year. Booking the rooms and check-in was easy and the rooms were located directly opposite each other so perfect for us all. The rooms were pretty chilly and this was due to the heating not being on in...

We really enjoyed the meal in the restaraunt from start to finish it was at least five years ago when we stayed here but Tom Kitcheners restauraunt is close by but we found the menu didn't suit us so ate in a pub...

Originally living in Dublin, my husband organized my birthday weekend to Edinburgh. As we visited this city previously and stayed in a city center location hotel, we wanted to experience the north side of the city and decided to stay in Malmaison Hotel. From the very beginning everything was wrong. The hotel is extremely overpriced. The high prices are not...

Malmaison have a boutique reputation and so I was looking forward to staying at the Edinbrough hotel On arrival the reception staff were great and very friendly. On getting to our room we noticed (as with mant hotels) the KIng bed was actually 2 singles pushed together without anything to stop a gap forming mid evening. On that basis I...

On arrival was told the room wasn't ready which was fine as we were bit early However room still not ready by check-in time an apology would have been appreciated But wasn't given and if that was a superior room I wouldn't fancy the basic rooms. Nice location but overrated.

Travelling alone and after a four hour drive, perhaps looking a little bit rough around the edges...the bloke on reception was engrossed on the phone for at least 10 mins and didn't acknowledge me at all. Fair play, but I was a bit grouhcy and this didn't help. I wanted my bed! Another member of staff came along and checked...

Stayed here unplanned as we missed out train (big fail) we managed to get a room for £74 (excluding breakfast) which was great value. I was expecting a typical Malmaison style, dark room, however this room was crisp, bright - with grey hues, white furniture. The bed was really comfy and the bed linen was of a good standard (which...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
