The location was perfect for us and this is a modern and stylish hotel. We had a deluxe room which was a good size with a lovely bathroom and very comfy bed. The cocktails in the bar were fantastic and the service there was very good. Our room was however noisy, especially at night - perhaps having a room next... More

First visit to a Malmaison - Edinburgh hotel is in a good location on Leith water front - about 2 miles from city centre - great bus service to centre - £1-60 each way. First room ( a club ) was a bit dated and would benefit from redecoration. We also had an issue with a noise from a 'staff... More

The Malmaison building is fantastic, but its the quality of the rooms I like most, good sized, well appointed, and very, very cosy bedding. Its not "City Center", but located by some great bars and restaurants and its an easy bus/taxi ride into town. Always great value for money.

I stayed hereon one of their special Sunday evening deals and it spoiled what was a special night. It took ages to find, they have no sign except a little plaque by the door, and you cannot drive past the front because it is pedestrianised. When I told the reception I could not find it she simply responded that it... More

This is the second time we have stayed at the Malmaison and it certainly won’t be our last. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to a suite (Thanks Stewart), the suite was amazing, it was very spacious, modern and relaxing with very comfy beds. The rooms were spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The hotel itself is lovely and... More

I have stayed at the Malmaison on a number of occasions for work. It is a very nice and comfortable hotel - the rooms are good sizes and the staff are always very polite and helpful. The menu is good (the Mal burger is a particular favourite) and Malmaison breakfasts are really good. I like the fact that the hotel... More

We stayed for 2 nights recently and had a lovely stay. We were given the option to upgrade before check in and chose the Superior Room. Room was in a lovely location of the hotel, top floor and facing onto the water. Lots of lovely little touches like robes & slippers, lavazza coffee machine and lovely seating area. Toiletries provided... More

Stayed for 1 night and the refurbished rooms are very nice and the beds are super comfortable. In the Mal Club room the extra touches are welcome and nice touches like the retro lightbulbs look the part. The bar, reception and restaurant again are all very trendy and sleek, with extremely helpful staff and good food. The continental breakfast also... More

When we arrived at the beautiful Malmaison I was really looking forward to my relaxing birthday weekend. Checked in with a lovely lady at reception and set on with our weekend. When we checked in we were asked if we would like to upgrade to a cooked breakfast.... we thought this seemed reasonable so paid the extra upfront. Biggest mistake... More

Only 10 mins on a very frequent and reliable bus service (£1.60 per journey or £4 per day) from the centre of Edinburgh. Located on the waterfront at Shore surrounded by quality eating places to suit all budgets. Staff in hotel friendly, the rooms are classily decorated. Had 2 very good nights sleep. Only slight negative is that the service... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
