Nestled on the bustling Royal Mile, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre garners acclaim for its stellar location, a stone's throw from numerous attractions. Guests frequently commend the hotel for its cleanliness and friendly service, though there are mentions of occasional lapses in housekeeping. While the amenities, including the spa and pool, are generally appreciated, some visitors note room for improvement.
Opinions on room quality and value for money are mixed; some guests find the rooms to be lacking and the hotel overpriced. Despite this, many find the hotel's atmosphere to be both welcoming and stylish.

I know the Radisson chain from having used it in several other cities for which the style and services are known to me. This particular hotel is situated in a great central location of the city so you can make the most important visits on foot. You walk the Royal Mile to the Castle and it is not far from the train station where there is also a bus stop leading to the airport. The rooms are spacious and comfortable although the decor is a bit dated. Very comfortable bed with double pillows and in the bathroom you will find the necessary for beard and shower: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, razor, shaving cream and toothpaste with toothbrush. We used from the lobby, with bar service, after Check-out until departure time. Very attentive and courteous staff.

Hotel in a central and strategic position, in the middle of the Royal Mile, with many rooms, from which a continuous coming and going of patrons, which makes the hotel a bit commercial (although the rates are certainly not popular), which makes the overall atmosphere a bit chilly. Anyway there is everything you want: spa with pool (don't try); great bar counter and restaurant. Spacious, bright, very soundproofed, clean and equipped with all amenities (typical of an excellent 4 stars), as well as useful accessories such as the kettle stocked with kits sachets always stocked, free mineral water punctually replaced if consumed, iron and ironing board, even! The bed was really at the highest levels of comfort. Unfortunately in the bathroom of my room the shower was in the bath (something not welcome in hotels). Rich and well served breakfast with many "hot" food buffet (wow!)... That said, even considering the rates applied, one point less than the maximum, precisely for that somewhat commercial and cold atmosphere that leaked out, and for the shower in the tub.

The Edinburgh Blu location doesn't really acknowledge or appreciate loyalty of the VIP Reward Membership Tier. No upgrade, and no late check out - it seems that a visiting rugby team had more privileges than a VIP Member. More than a little disappointing. We've stayed at other locations where they acknowledge more, and leave a personalised little welcome note in the room - this location could learn from the Aberdeen location. The breakfast was very good, and the staff friendly enough but not able or empowered to assist or resolve any concerns.

Despite it’s in the middle of the old town, and with 4.5 star attached to the hotel, the hotel in general has the worst housekeeping service. The staff either forget to replace the room daily supplies, such tea, coffee etc, they forget to replace towels, they forget cleaning used cups and glasses etc. it was so incapable! Doesn’t a hotel like this one, charging £400 a night, should have a supervisor to make sure guests are looked after??? Another thing made our stay almost unbearable was the weak and useless wifi! Sometimes I had to go to the public area to have my work done. Needless to say the aircon didn’t work either… I noticed this hotel has so many American tour groups. They normally stay 2 nights and then leave. That’s why the housekeeping staff can get away with such bad service. Thus, my warning is if you are individual travellers, do not stay in this hotel. You only waste your money and leave a very bad experience in Edinburgh.

Overall very disappointed. 3rd stay at Radisson in Edinburgh but things have really slipped and this is no longer a luxe stay. We will not be back for a 4th stay here. Check in was poor as there was a query with my booking I secured a room directly on website a week prior; the price stated at £496 which stated all fees and taxes are included, but there was an additional £102 added to my bill for fees and taxes?? Also there was a difference between the base price was incorrect total added £116 to bill! They did amend but not before a 30 minute wait, two employees and me having to go and ask if we could check in yet. In room blind was broken, lights occasionally went on and off for no reason, shower/bath tap was not working correctly as it was difficult to turn either off. The room had not been hoovered bits all over carpet. Parked at the hotel and used the lift alone to fetch a bag from car the car park lift doors closed on me which was very painful, a maid was the other side and checked I was ok. I work for a lift company and know it means safety devices in the lift have failed and it should be out of service until fixed. 30lbs of pressure landing on your arms hurts! Food - had a meal in Itchycoo horrible. A stew which was mainly gristle and dry cold kale that was not heated, so just mash for dinner. I sent the meat and kale back but the server gave no offer of a reduction. Breakfast - on last visits was good. This time tinned mushrooms and powered eggs. Limited continental and butter portions tasted off, carrot sticks for kids dried out and not given the optional order menu to select from. Not 4 star at the moment, Dated shabby decor in places too. Not luxe or 4 star not going to rebook.

Had such a relaxed stay here. The staff are so lovely & helpful. Archie was so welcoming & friendly on check in/check out. The breakfast is fantastic. Plenty of choice and again, the staff at breakfast are the best. Always cheerful & nothing too much trouble. The room was clean & fantastic view over the Royal Mile. Cleaned daily with fresh towels every day. Bit disappointed that the pool was closed & we wern't told that we had the use of the pool in another hotel but it didn't spoil our stay. Had a fab meal in the restaurant and used room service which was excellent VFM compared with the cost of meals nearby. This hotel is in a great spot. Central for all attractions & has parking on site. £15 per night to park in a secure adjacent location is a good price in any city. Would thoroughally recommend this hotel & wouldn't hesitate to return.

I didn't plan on staying at the Radisson Blu when I was in Edinburgh but its central location near the beginning of the Royal Mile, bathroom with shower and tub and the promise of choice of pillows made it my choice for a four-night stay while recovering from Covid. The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished and the rooms are spacious, with plenty of plugs for all one's electronics, nice toiletries, a magnifying mirror and the soft pillows I wanted. I opted not to have my room cleaned because of Covid but any request I had was promptly attended to: a topper was brought for the firm bed, extra toiletries, towels and water (they give you free bottled water that is replenished) were left by my door. Room service was limited and not the best but every request I had for plain, simple gluten-free food was cheerfully done. There are taxis right in front of the hotel making it easy to get a ride in a location that is challenging to find cabs. I really can't say enough about my experience at Radisson Blu. They made a challenging time for me restful and as pleasant as possible. Recommended!

This was a last minute booking after another establishment cancelled shortly before our trip. I had hoped we might get connecting rooms however we were too late for that. The hotel did put us in rooms close to each other which was great. There are three fairly small lifts. There didn’t seem to be stairs guests could use which was a shame. The rooms were spacious with nice seating areas and everything you might need available in terms of toiletries, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. I found the bed a bit too soft for my liking although there is a pillow menu and apparently you could ask for a different mattress firmness if required although I didn’t. There is air conditioning although ours seemed to randomly switch itself off sometimes. The lights were also a bit erratic. The lighting above the seating area only worked on one occasion for us. One of the rooms smelled of cigarette smoke but the window couldn’t be opened by guests to air the room. We made reception aware of this the morning after we checked in and they led us to believe that while we were out that day action would be taken to rectify this however nothing happened for the duration of our visit and the room still had a faint smell of smoke when we left. I was a bit disappointed nothing was done about this which is why I have knocked a star off the rating. We went to have a look at the pool but the person at the desk seemed a bit unfriendly. We said we had come to have a look and they just said “the pool’s there”. It would have been helpful to receive a bit more information about opening hours, changing rooms etc. We didn’t use the pool but it did look nice. We had dinner in the restaurant on one of the nights which was very nice. The staff were lovely and the food was good. It was a useful menu with light bites and a good range of options. There was a great selection at breakfast and you could ask for even more options like porridge from a little menu. All the items were kept well stocked and tables were cleared quickly and thoroughly cleaned when guests left including cleaning the backs of chairs which impressed me. The breakfast staff were all lovely and very helpful. The hotel is in a very central location. It is a short walk from Waverley Station. It is very close to the main sightseeing spots and a short walk to where the open top tour buses leave from. Although our rooms looked out on the Royal Mile they were surprisingly quiet and we didn’t hear anything from other rooms. We all enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider staying here again.

Booked a last minute stay here as part of a short pre-xmas trip to Edinburgh, our first time in the city as leisure travellers. We were a little overwhelmed with which hotel to book and where to locate ourselves not knowing the city that well but on reflection we very happy with our choice. We needed somewhere with car parking, ideally a pool, reasonably central, breakfast and reasonably priced. Apart from the latter, our needs were reasonably fulfilled.
The location is right about in the middle of the royal mile, out of the hotel and down the hill to Arthur's seat and Hollyrood House, left up to the Castle. More or less opposite is a street that takes you down to Princes Street and the new town. In our minds it couldn't have been any better located. Parking was £15 a night in the hotel car park which we didn't think too bad for city centre.
Staff on arrival and check out were super friendly. The room wasn't quite ready but the receptionist moved some things around so we could check in and explore. They apologised for the 2 out of 4 lifts on arrival being out of order. It didn't really bother us too much as we never waited that long. Parts were apparently on order from Germany, these things happen. There were some decorations up for xmas which made reception look pretty.
The room was a standard room but it was quite spacious and we overlooked a quiet side street. We stayed Sunday and Monday nights so it seemed fairly quiet in the hotel allowing a good nights sleep. The bed was comfy and the room clean, it was visited by housekeeping after the first night. 2 free bottles of water were included but no extras such as biscuits on the tea tray, slippers, robes, etc. They would have been a nice touch for the level of hotel.
Breakfast in the morning was good, there was a well stocked selection on the hot and cold buffet and it was of decent quality. Staff were friendly and replenishing items and clearning tables efficiently. The room seemed a little dark but it was a basement room with little natural night so understandable. We didn't make use of the bar or restaurant for dinner as there are so many options on the doorstep.
The pool is small so if you are looking to practice your competition swimming it's not for you but if you are looking to relax for an hour or two like we did with a book by the pool and a sauna and steam room and dip its perfectly fine. We had it to ourselves for some of the time. The changing rooms are small and robes and slippers would have been nice to be able to shower and get changed back in your room but the facilities are functional and clean.
All in all we had a lovely stay and would happily stay here again subject to price at the time. It was more expensive than other hotels but as a rushed booking we fell on our feet with the location.

Me and my wife went up to Edinburgh to mark out 6 months having been married and we stayed the the Radisson blu on the high street. Upon arrival we where kindly greeted by staff who made the check in process really simple (I liked that the room key cards where made out of wood) having been handed the keys we headed to the 4th floor where we stayed in room for 415. The room was absolutely huge and met all expectations. Nothing of any concerns at all to note everything was perfect. The room had a great view, the bed was comfy & the bathroom was great too. The next morning we headed down for breakfast. Never have I ever in the UK been tempted by so many choices, amazing! Following this me and wife went to the spa area all which was great especially the *Steam Room* this is by far the best one I have ever been in. After this we had another night/day where we just repeated the above. But the hotel was great and was everything we needed for our staff. Amazing customer service/guest experience. We will most definitely come again. Thank you.

We visited Radisson Blu in Edinburgh in February. At that time, there was no extra charge for pancakes. The breakfast was excellent. All those little extras you mentioned have not been cut and all were available during our stay. Hope this helps.
There are more places to choose from in the Edinburgh area.
