Very friendly staff , easy check in , comfortable rooms well maintained with adjustable heating. brilliant location near to the shops, the castle, and most attractions. We dined out at the witchery and although a little more expensive it was definately worth the visit.

I stayed here for an overnight stay after a night out with friends in Edinburgh. The location is OK although was slightly further away from the main centre of Edinburgh than I would have liked. Overall the hotel was OK - it was in line with what you get in a budget hotel. It provided what was required but I...

Stayed here for our annual Edinburgh pre Christmas trip beautifully situated in the old part of town this means a very pleasant walk into the town. Beautiful breakfast both mornings if not a little busy. Lovely clean rooms and bedding. Shower curtain not good it sticks to.you and water floods bathroom floor. One of the LED s went on the...

Excellent location just off the Royal Mile. Friendly, helpful staff that really seem to care. Comfortable room with much appreciated tea and coffee making facilities. Everything you need for a comfortable stay and great value for money in a very expensive city. I hope I can always stay at Travelodge Edinburgh Central whenever I am in Edinburgh.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was okay.Had a room at the back which was quiet, unlike the front which would have been pretty noisy. Room was a bit small for 2 people, and only 1 bath and hand towel supplied. Bed okay but bathroom was a bit whiffy. This place confirms you get what you pay for!

Brilliant place to stay near City Centre with the shops and the marketplace. Only downfall is first of all that we had to request to switch rooms due to hair in the bathroom which the staff were happy enough to change our rooms for us. New room was clean and beds was really comfy. First night we were there we...

Excellent service from reception staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Clean comfortable room. Hot tasty full cooked breakfast very nice. As the name suggests Central to sights. Good bus service to and from the hospital, only 20 mins away. Parking at St Johns NCP, 2 mins from hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here a few times, nice clean hotel, comfortable beds, pleasant staff, a good breakfast! Only downside is the lack of shower curtains so if you have a shower the bathroom floor gets soaked! Don't let that put you off though. Its ideally placed for the Royal Mile and about 5 minutes walk from Princes Street

I wasn't sure what to expect and the Travel Lodge exceeded all my expectations. It was close to the station, the staff were friendly, the rooms clean and the beds fabulously comfortable. I will be back!

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
