My wife and I were planning our 48th wedding anniversary (with Poppy {our Yorkshire Terrier}) and we were looking for somewhere special. There was only one place for us and that was the Bonham Hotel. As "usual" the staff were superb - kindly, warm, welcoming and ever helpful; the accommodation was superb and the food - a delightful experience. Thank... More

Stayed 27-31Jan with their 'January deal'. Lovely room, wonderful food and great service from an attentive staff; so everything as 'normal'. Their January deal represents outstanding value for money - great hotel, close to the city centre in the West End (most 'attractions' are within walking distance), yet quiet. We will be back.

Me and my boyfriend visited the hotel last weekend. Our Standard room was clean and nice. You can see that it has not been renovated for a while but overall satisfactory. Reception staff lost a piece of our luggage, it was a plastic career bag full of rare magazines. We were asked to make a list of titles and told... More

We have been to the Bonham a few times as we travel to Edinburgh a few times a year and have had numerous Afternoon Teas here which have been the best so far we have had and we are quite partial to afternoon tea and the Bonham got me onto my now favourite drink where I was introduced to it... Spent a night here before a business meeting. Very convenient, being just a few minutes walk from one of the airport shuttle bus stops. The restaurant menu looked good, both from a food choice and price perspective, but I'm never that keen on eating alone at dinner when away on business. Slightly disappointed with the room service menu, which was... More

We visited The Bonham whilst taking our son back to Uni and needing somewhere we could stay with the dog, and with off street parking! What a find. The hotel is well situated, with a free car park at the back. The dog was made most welcome with his own bed, toy and our room had direct access onto a... More

We enjoyed a nights stay at The Bonham Hotel on the 21st to 22nd January 2014. Our room was No 212 and we found it to be very clean and tidy and welcoming for our visit, and the views of Edinburgh were quite exceptionable. We enjoyed an evening meal and found this to be of a very high quality, and... More

Came here with hubby for a romantic break without the kids. We had benefited from the Itison deal so also had bubbly in the room, rose petals on the bed (why?? they must be a PAIN to vacuum up the next day!), 3 course dinner and late checkout of 2pm with breakfast in bed. All very nice indeed. A tad... More

Once again we spent a few nights in THE BONHAM and were entirely satisfied: - complimentary upgrade to the large room 104 (brilliant!) - very friendly and helpful staff - free parking in the backyard (that alone worth a small fortune) - very good breakfast. In one word: excellent!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
