This was my 7th stay at the Bonham and once again it scores highly. I always try to have a room on the 3rd or 4th floor at the rear for the wonderful views down to the water. Rooms are very comfortable and well maintained with excellent beds. The service is friendly and efficient and this tine the breakfast service,...

This is a nice hotel, great location, well priced but a bit tired. The room (3rd floor superior double) was very spacious, had amazing views and a good size bathroom. Very clean. Breakfast was average but the bar had a nice feel and the cocktails were good. What let The Bonham down was service - restaurant staff need more training,...

This was our second stay at the Bonham it was just as perfect at the first time, the hotel has a sumptuous luxury feel about it from the minute the door man welcomes you in. On arrival the receptionist was friendly and helpful they took our suitcases so we could go out for lunch while the room was being prepared....

I stayed for one night last weekend with a friend after bidding for a stay at a charity silent auction. The staff were very helpful in booking the night however it was really difficult to get hold of them on the phone as it seemed to be constantly busy. They didn't get my email address correct so I had to...

My friend and I shared a twin room for one night which we purchased as an excellent special deal. The room was large, clean, quiet and airy with good views All the usual facilities were provided, tea/coffee, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, towelling robes and bathroom toiletries. The staff were friendly and courteous and the food was very good. Tiny little niggles...

We tried the Bonham for a business stay after trying The George previously and finding it extremely lacking. Loved The Bonham - a similar old stone townhouse with wood pannelling, a little shabby around the edges but generally cosy, friendly and spotlessly clean. A ltlle quirkier too. The little Consulting Room bar is great, with a decent wine list and...

We loved staying in this hotel, it' s very close to everything you want to be close to. The staff is wonderfull and we loved the breakfast. We have visited Edinburgh quite a few times but this is our favorite. Only downside is they don' t have a spa/gym.

Booked surprise for parents 40th wedding anniversary, they thoroughly enjoyed it, nice room with a good view, breakfast and meal in the evening was very good and hotel close to town and castle. Only downside they wanted to eat again on the 2nd night but were not informed that there was a wedding on and there were no facilities for...

I love this hotel, it is a real home from home. It is cosy and understated, from it's tweed curtains to the lovely oak floors. Food is good and the restaurant has some great offers. Room rates seem to be good value for central Edinburgh, a 'small' double is comfortable and perfectly adequate for 1 or 2 adults. Delicious and...

Only just got round to reviewing…me and my boyfriend stayed here in June 2013 for 4 nights. The building was lovely, the decor was nice, but I just didn't think it was worth the money we paid. The room was on the small side and for some reason was unbearably hot throughout our stay - even though the window was...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
