We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions over a number of years and we are never disappointed. The location is highly convenient for central Edinburgh, the decor is beautiful and the staff are always very friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant is lovely and we have also attended a wine tasting which was excellent. Overall highly...

We spent four nights at The Bonham recently. It was a wonderful experience. As others have said the staff is attentive and pleasant. Also a plus was the location as we could walk easily to many sites and catch the bus or tram nearby. There is parking behind the building and that is free. The continental breakfast was presented on...

We stayed for two nights at The Bonham during an extended trip to Great Britain. We fell in love with The Bonham! This is a beautiful, charming hotel situated on a quiet street where we were able to get out and walk all over the city. I believe we were in room 310 which had a huge bay window looking...

A previous stay earlier this year did not go to our expectations, however, upon we did return a couple of weeks ago, the Manageress (Judith) and the staff went far beyond our expectations. A wonderful mid-week stay, room was fantastic (although we still remain in love with room 308), very clean, very quiet and all in all, we will return...

Stayed at The Bonham this week for 3 nights, the staff could not have been more kind and courteous. Yes The Bonham decor is a little tired in places and could do with a bit of update but the place was clean and comfortable. The staff were all very kind and helpful even though the hotel was busy, the restaurant manager...

Stayed for one night at what is a well located hotel yet in a relatively quiet location. Staff very pleasant and room good enough though bed a little lumpy! Had reserved a table for dinner based upon menu shown on website though choice appeared markedly different on the night and we therefore chose to eat elsewhere. Breakfast pretty good though...

We paid more for a better room and it was full of light (despite the Edinburgh gloom) and had a picture perfect view. Soooo quiet! The included breakfast was quite good, although repetitious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Yes, it takes a few minutes to get to Rose Street for a drink or dinner, but the walk back...

We stayed one night as a late booking. Our room was small but reasonable. We were woken the next morning at 8am with someone hoovering right outside the room. Breakfast was supposedly continental only, despite being described as 'includes breakfast' on the booking site. We arrived for breakfast around 9.30 and it finished at 10am. There were only doughy bread...

We loved our stay in Edinburgh. This delightful hotel is a few minutes walk to Prices Street and then quite central for other activities. The staff on reception were friendly and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Our room, on floor 3 was stunning and so comfortable. Just can't fault our stay, just wished it was longer.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
