A very good value, centrally placed hotel. Good price for a family room. The hotel is very central, 2 or 3 minutes walk from Waverley Station. Not overly luxurious, but clean, good sized room, good service. You can walk to many of the city centre attractions.

We stayed here for 3 nights, It's in a perfect location especially considering the price. My partner and I love to walk and this suited us perfectly. Th staff were really friendly had polite however our biggest bug bear was the shower which dribbled and had no pressure whatsoever... And no hair dryer which was really annoying in the cold!!

Cheap hotel only for a nice sleep. Nothing special without even a freezer but clean, warm and central located. As I mentioned, just for a good sleep for low budget people. Unfortunately, doesn't offer breakfast, only some "breakfast kits" which I wouldn't recommend.

Spent a few days over February weekend. Reception with chocolate & coffee machine. Quick easy & efficient Check-In from pleasant & helpful staff. Room 101 - Lower ground floor room was given. This turned out to be ok as it was very quiet but still with a couple of windows. Small TV with few channels. Large comfortable kingsize bed (x2...

Yes the rooms are simple, but they're clean, warm, and in a great location. We had a very comfortable stay, and the staff were lovely - very accommodating. The WiFi isn't free, which is the only downfall. There's no breakfast option, which didn't affect us but might be a pain for others. Lots of nice cafe's nearby though. 10 minute...

it's a Travelodge, so you know what you're getting from the room. decent sized but not very comfortable bed, tiny TV, decent bathroom, and the same picture in every single hotel. this one is in an excellent location, right by Waverley station and a five minute walk from the Royal Mile only complaint was the noise from the busy road...

Having arrived very late at night I was pleased to fine it is very close to Edinburgh Waverley train station, just a 2 minute walk. Clean and comfortable. Very helpful member of staff took my bags up to my room.

Upon arrival check-in was smooth and quick. The receptionist was very welcoming and cheerful which gave a positive impact right from the start. On entering the room, it appeared to be larger than what we had seen on the internet for double bed rooms. The bathroom was also very clean as expected and the room was generally in a good...

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
