My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights and The guest room was very nice and in a great location for accessing downtown Edinburgh. Katrina and Fergus were super friendly and provided a nice breakfast in the morning straight to our room! The room was great with a comfortable bed, the only reason why I am giving this...

My sister and I recently stayed at The Guest Room B&B in Edinburgh and I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else. Katrina and Fergus and their family are the most delightful, thoughtful and helpful of hosts. Our room was lovely. Our breakfasts, brought to our room, were delicious. This B & B is perfect for your first, or your fifth, visit to Edinburgh. We loved the location, the excellent accommodations, and the wonderful breakfasts...The hosts were extraordinary: welcoming, gracious, and so helpful! We came here for a short stay, late in June, 2016, and we hope to return for a longer stay at some point. We cannot give...

We consider ourselves very lucky to have stumbled upon this perfect place to stay when we visited our son at university during his first year and were so taken with it that we have returned three more times since. It's impossible to fault in any way from Katrina's efficiency at time of booking and her welcome on arrival to the...

Our third stay in this familiar atmosphere was as great as usual and it felt like coming home! What a warm welcome from the whole family including their lovely dog. A delicious healthy breakfast (with fresh croissants) brought to our spacious and comfortable room and friendly chats during the days. We also love the small souterrain garden and the short...

We were in need of a B&B for the weekend for a wedding we were attending in Edinburgh and after much searching we opted for The Guest Room. It didn't disappoint! Really very easy to find from the train station and we were warmly welcomed by Katrina who showed us to our room - which was located down our own...

Had a lovely time staying with Fergus and Katrina. The room was lovely and breakfast was always amazing. When we arrived we were taken to free street parking, and Was brought back to the b&b. Close to the town with a 5-10 minute walk to main town and attractions. Would stay again if in area. Highly recommend. Thanks for a...

Katrina and Fergus were so nice and helpful. Our plane arrived at 8am so I asked if we could drop off our luggage before we went exploring because I knew check in was later. However, when we arrived around 9am the room was ready for us right away. It is a beautiful room and bathroom and it was like having...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
