The location is excellent in city centre with supermarket just on the opposite and a bus stop right at the door. The room is clean and comfortable yet a bit small. It was very nice of the hotel to temporarily keep our luggages for 2 days for free!

We were given this hotel based on our vacation package to Scotland and I can honestly say I was very satisfied with our stay at this hotel. Although it was smaller than the normal hotels you would get in the states but it was very nice for what we wanted to do. We would get up early and leave and...

We stayed in a family room which consisted of a double bed & bunk beds. The room was very comfortable with plenty of tea, coffee & milk. 24 hour reception. All the staff we met were very pleasant. There's a bus stop at the front of the hotel & a tram stop just along the street.

I have spent a week in this hotel, in the junction of Princess Street, it's a good hotel with a very polite, pleasant and kind staff. Rooms are comfortable and clean, you can find a teapot in the bedroom, haidryer and iron. The best of all, the location, near the city center, the railway station, and easy access to urban...

Check in was swift. Room was very small but adequate. We had a quiet room. Wifi was good enough to stream videos. The bed was not providing good support so woke up with a backache. Location wise is at the end of shopping street Princess Street but we could walk to Edinburgh castle within 15 mins and shopping and a...

Stayed in Cityroomz Edinburgh for three nights but I wouldn't recommend. The room was tiny and smelly, the bathroom was dirty, the breakfast room too busy (people had to queue) and the food wasn't good. Wasn't worth to take it, so we avoided it on the other days. For just over a £100 a night it's not really a bargain....

Excellent hotel for the price. Right on the edge of Princes Street, walking distance to the museum, castle and cathedral. We had a two night stay, found the room size and bathroom to be ok, clean, very comfy bed and quite quiet considering it’s on busy main street. Also they had free wifi and safe in the room. Fantastic for...

It was ok, nothing special, just average. The lift wasn't working so we had to take our luggage up to the fourth floor, that was not good at all, and we didn't get any notice about it. The location is great, if you wish to be close to the city center and main attractions.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
