We ended up a day early in Edinburgh and booked a twin private (with bathroom) last minute for 50 pounds. Although a bit hard to find, as was great value for money for that price if just looking for a good place to say an huge roomy apartment with bedroom, living room (nice couch, not much to watch on the...

I stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. The room was actually not too bad - large, clean, had a tv and kettle. But shared bathroom meant not even a sink in the bedroom! And it turns out there was no shower in the shared bathroom, just a hand-held thing that didn't even work. Plus no soap in the...

Stayed her in mid May, very large room, dirt cheap and good location, very close to all the sights and plenty of restaurants, pubs and bars. It does get very noisy at night as there is a pub underneath and a lap-dancing club a few doors down! May not be could for families because of this but unbeatable value.

Good location, a few minutes of walk away from all the attractions and main streets. We did all our visits by foot or bus. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. Yet the place is quiet as rooms face an inner court. Suites are huge with big rooms, large living room (with TV, sofa, dining table) and...

Very spacious, clean and no frills. Comfortable for all we needed for a night's stay for an early airport start which was handy as the airport bus stop was right across the road. On first entering the place seems a little dodgy with only one door hidden amongst the shops but seemed more at ease inside. Rather like an old...

We got a great pre-paid deal through Booking.com for our one night in Edinburgh - €19 for a huge 3 room suite located right beside Princes Street in the heart of Edinburgh. Unfortunately parking was also €19 for 24 hours, the MOST expensive parking price we have ever paid ANYWHERE in the world so far! After we were already parked...

This hotel is more of a homeless unit than city accomodation! The reception staff have very bad manners and as for the rooms...disgusting and completly missleading. I tried to get a refund on my room and was blatently told to go away. Therefore the service and standard of help is appoling. Only book into this accomadation if you are desperate...VERY...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
