I can't say enough about this hotel. Great location, beautiful room, lovely lounging areas. I booked last minute and got a great deal. Staff is amazing from front desk, to bartenders to the Bistro. Everything here is top notch. You will not be disappointed.

Stayed here 1 night on business, couldn't get into the Scotsman which is my usual stay in Edinburgh. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Waverley, probably a nicer stay as a couple at the weekend. As a solo, female, business traveller it didn't have a great feel. Room was very dark and a bit depressing, no view, room...

Dear NMSheffield Thank you for your review following your business stay at Hotel du Vin. I am disappointed that you wouldn't choose to stay with us again. Although some of our rooms have a darker ambience we do have many that have large windows allowing plenty of natural light into the room. If you simply request this on a return...

We were in Edinburgh prior to a four day whisky tour around Islay. As my wife had received a £65 gift voucher from Hotel du Vin it was an obvious choice. The food was typically French. French Onion Soup, smoked salmon ,roasted cod and moules mariner. My wife found the roasted cod on puy lentils very good.We shared an enormous souffle....

We stayed three nights. A perfect small hotel in a very good location - just a block from the National Museum of Scotland (which I HIGHLY recommend). Very accommodating staff and servers. Would recommend.

We stayed for 2 nights at Hotel du Vin and loved the slightly quirky layout and hotel. The location was perfect for all areas of Edinburgh. The breakfast had everything you could want and both evenings we chose to eat at the Bistro as the food was exceptional. The service was second to none and all the staff without exception...

We were upgraded to a beautiful room, the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the outside bistro was really good with plenty of heaters when it became chilly and the indoor restaurant was great with a good choice of menu. Very clean, good location.

We had a great experience honeymooning here. They upgraded our room and left us champagne and chocolate with a special note. The beds were very comfortable and the showers, heavenly! My husband is a whiskey enthusiast and embraced their whiskey bar- they were happy to serve us even past midnight. The wine selection isn't bad either! We're thrilled!

Wanted something a bit different and not too large and impersonal but near the action. This fitted all those requirements. Excellent service, comfortable standard room in a great Old Town location. Easy to walk anywhere in central Edinburgh from here. Staff pleasant and professional. Bistro looked good although we only ate breakfast here, excellent quality.

You don't really feel at home, noone asks to help you. The bed was like concrete to lie on, breakfast expensive. Coffee and toast, marmelade and cornflakes £44. Dinner was served very late, afternoon tea expensive. Lounge was very very expensive.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
