I have stayed in Uni accommodation before but £130 per night for a twin room with breakfast, is a little steep. However, it served us well as we were there for a long weekend at the Fringe. Now in the summer there is a lot going on and no doubt that contributes to the university being able to charge higher...

I was dreading my visit based upon some of the prior reviews. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to be allocated a modern block (John Burnett House), a large twin room with beds on either ends, and a nice common room with flatscreen TV which we had to ourselves. There were some great breakfast options, with even gluten free items being...

We were lucky and placed at John Burnett House which was only built in 2009. The twin en suite rooms were clean and spacious. Tea and coffee was provided. There was a nice common room and laundry facilities. Buffet breakfast had good choice and variety. Check out is 10.30am and there's free parking. Good location.

We stayed at Pollock Halls as part of a family gathering, and found it was excellent for this purpose. Bear in mind that this is NOT a conventional hotel, and it is best not to judge it in that category. It is high-quality student accommodation made available out of term time for holiday makers, academic conferences and groups. The rooms...

Had to find 2 night accommodation in a specific part of the city in an emergency. I specified my search by map and star rating. This was one of the closest. The photo of the exterior. was of a beautiful old building in traditional sandstone. There were photos of lovely plates of food and the scenery, as well as pictures...

The room was simple but clean, great selection of food for breakfast; nicely situated within very green surroundings facing the mountain; free wi-fi but the price of the double room a bit too high for such a standard ; helpful, young staff; very good bus service to the city centre.

Basic rooms, rooms very clean and tidy, breakfast very good. Excellent place to stay if going to the Fringe Festival with only a 10 minute walk to high street. This is a fairly good location as you are on a bus route and plenty of Taxis about.

Stayed at the Chancellors Cout, Pollack Halls during August. Very busy but beautiful site, the only difficulty was getting too and from the centre of the city ...would have been great if there were some bus instructions clearly provided, was with my elderly mum and we ended up getting taxis. Food and rooms great!

Chancellor's Court is part of the Pollock Halls complex of the University of Edinburgh. This designation should be a clue that yes, it is student housing. That means very basic dorm-room furnishings, but with the added benefit of ensuite bathrooms (no trotting down the hall to the shower). In-room Wi-Fi is available, and some plans include an enormous breakfast buffet...
