The hotel was ideally located in the quieter part of The Royal Mile, but still within a 10 minute walk of all major tourist attractions like the Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, museums, Calton Hill, etc. There are pubs everywhere and grocery stores nearby. The room itself was nice. We were facing the road and chose to keep the windows open for fresh air so you can hear the noise from the street, but with the windows closed and AC on, it was very quiet. The room has everything you would need for a longer stay like a fridge, kettle, stove and microwave. They did have a nespresso machine but only gave two free pods and had to buy if you needed more. They don’t provide housekeeping but anything you needed was available at front desk. They have a laundry room in the basement that accepts £1 coins only. There are two washers (you need 3 coins for washing) and 2 dryers (you need 2 coins for drying) and I was able to use them twice without having to wait. I would say get extra coins for the dryer unless you just plan on hanging semi-dry stuff in your room, which works too! The only thing that might prevent me from booking here again is the quality of the bed. They’re rock hard and gave us a backache/headache from using them. Even the pillows are not comfortable, which was unfortunate because I really enjoyed everything else, but this is definitely a dealbreaker.…
We have stayed here 3 times in the last years and it’s ideally situated to explore the Fringe. The rooms are well equipped and always clean and tidy. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Great location- we will be back!
These apartments were perfect for the weekend spent in Edinburgh for my sisters hen party. The whole place was clean and in good condition. The receptionist John was extremely helpful and friendly the whole weekend as I had many requests for our group. The rooms were lovely and served their purpose very well. I will definitely recommend and hopefully return in the future.
We stayed here the past 2 nights after our flight was canceled. We had walked by the hotel a few times and the location is great. The hotel is on the royal mile in the quieter section closer to hollyrood palace but a short walk to all of old and new town. We loved walking out of the hotel and being right in the old town. The hotel was clean and breakfast was good. There is no housekeeping but you can go to the front desk for more towels or toilet paper. We didn’t eat in at all but our studio had a full kitchen with everything you would need to cook (no oven) and had a dishwasher. Our room was really quiet. There is air conditioning but the room does not get cold like US air conditioning so we were still warm overnight. My only complaint is that the bed in our studio was awful. It felt like a futon mattress and was rock hard and very uncomfortable. The bed appeared to be able to be converted into a sofa if you would want to have more space when not sleeping. The bed would be the only thing that would prevent me from staying here again.…
Not the service or cleanliness we expected from an Accor hotel. Very busy given the time of year and location but it’s overpriced for what it is and the rooms were dirty with sheets that were clearly in need of replacement
Stayed for three nights for my friends 65th birthday. The twin room was very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped, gym small but adequate. The hotel was at the beginning of the Royal Mile. With easy access to plenty of shops restaurants and tourists attractions. Breakfast was of a good variety of cooked, and continental selections. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely visit and stay again.
It is entirely possible that I am spoiled; the appliances here are clean, so are the sheets, so is the upholstery it seems—though, I can’t tell with the rug. These are the important parts—so adiago gets away with that at the very least. Immediately upon walking into the lobby however, I noticed how unkept everything was. Makeshift paper signs were typed and stuck on the wall to make up for weird little quirks in the building. I know the decor and the vibe were kind of meant to be playful, with games for sale in the lobby and all the bright colors; but it started to feel like I was starting my Scotland foray in someone’s Barbie Dream House from 2004 that’s been in the basement for 18 years of heavy flooding; mainly because I found the door in the bathroom was mildewed at the bottom edge, and the walls were stained shades of gray with accumulated moisture that had dripped down. Walking through the rest of the room, there were visible stains on the walls, scuffs of mystery white and beige, and what I hope to be coffee stains on the walls surrounding the sink. It really didn’t feel clean, even though I don’t expect them to clean the walls during every clean—maybe they should at least be looking? On the door to the bathroom there was this weird Cheeto-esque stain that looked as though it had been stamped there by someone’s fingers, but I’m not sure. It was on an awkward part of the door to be fair, but that does call the cleanliness of the doorknobs into question. A few things broke, or just didn’t work, all things which progressively made the whole place feel progressively cheaper and cheaper, even though it really wasn’t. Then again, neither was Mattel’s plastic extravagance for their flagship doll, though I really prefer to be treated like a flesh and blood guest when I go to stay somewhere. On second thought, maybe I will go stay with Barbie—I bet she keeps up with her place.…
The hotel is very clean. The room was small but functional with good use of space for storage. The bed was comfortable. I really liked the option of pushing it up when we weren't sleeping. The kitchenette was very nice and well equipped with supplies you would need if you wanted to cook. The bathroom was well laid out.
The hotel is in the beginning of the Royal Mile, in fact Canongate is the continuation of that street, Location 100% recommended. The facilities and the staff were very nice and comfortable, however I do missed a more comfortable bed. Besides that, all great.
The Aparthotel Adagio located midway The Royal Mile in Old Town Edinburgh is an ideal place to stay when visiting Edinburgh. Few minutes’ walk to Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. And lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Close to Waverley Train Station and Tram towards the airport. Nice room, well equipped with several amenities and a helpful staff.
