Went with my dad, daughter and friend for dinner. We had a very nice meal. The starters came promptly as did our mains. We all had different things and all enjoyed them. I am advised that the homemade steak pie was excellent. The staff were exceptionally nice and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.

How on earth can this place be classified a hotel when music is blasting to about 1am! I have had no sleep. Would have been better off sleeping in my car. Rooms are pretty grim too. Can't believe I paid for a room only to be kept awake until the early hours with what sounded like a rave downstairs.

I recently visited the smiths hotel, I had a great stay and an altogether great time. The staff were brilliant and made my stay worth it, including Caitlin and Nicole who were helpful and made my stay enjoyable and made it a great trip!

Stayed at this hotel for a few weeks and to be honest, the quality and cleanliness of the room was poor. I was greeted with a used plaster on the bathroom sink on arrival. Way over priced per night - would have been content in paying £20 per night - not any more!! I think my face has been eated...

We were given a private room for our meal with 2 waiters. They were not intrusive and always available, first class. The meal was fabulous, compliments to the chef. The steaks were the best we have ever tasted. Many thanks for making this a night to remember.

A decrepit dive, accommodation reminiscent of 1970s sit com 'Rising Damp' and that decade was probably last time the place was properly clean and in good repair. From the gut wrenching fug of carpet cleaning chemicals, thinly disguising the horrors they had been called upon to remove in the trip hazard strewn stairwells to the rooms which were vile in...

The shower didn't work and the layout is a bit unusual. The whole hotel needs a major refurbished as the rooms look like they are back 15 years. Some dampness visible on the walls. Decent sized room and the bed was comfortable. This hotel is above a lively nightclub at the weekends. Sadly there is no competition in the immediate...

As the title of this review says, this hotel can be summed up in one word - Basic!!! Sure it had some good points - nice towels; ample hot water and a good cooked breakfast ( for £6) but the furnishings and décor in the room were simply basic and uninviting. If you don't expect much then you may find...

I think this 'hotel' suffers given there is no competition - there simply is no other hotel in Kirkintilloch. We stayed as a couple in October last year on a whim, deciding to book a room to avoid the taxi fare back to Glasgow after a nostalgic (I used to live in Kirky) visit for a nice meal in a...
