I have stayed at Balgowan House on 4 occassions for business trips and I have loved every minute of it. Richie is very friendly and such a brilliant host. He'll do anything for you, and he is always cheery and happy to help. The B&B is stunning, and the views over the gardens are amazing. It is always clean, tidy,...

I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for something a bit special. We had a large comfortable bedroom with private bathroom. The view from the bedroom window out across the botanic gardens and the river Tay was delightful. The welcome was warm and friendly.

We stayed here for 1 night in September, lovely host , lovely room although a bit cold, the heating was on a timer so we had to use the portable electric heater. Room very clean and spacious . Breakfast was also very nice with a choice of continental or full Scottish. The black pudding was the best I have tasted....

My husband & I spent 2 nights of our honeymoon here. Even though the bathroom was not en-suite, we didn't have any issues with using it when we needed. Our room was very spacious and had lovely views of the River Tay & the gardens. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The choices for breakfast included cereal, toast as...

Balgowan House is a lovingly restored, early 20th century house situated on a hill overlooking the river Tay. The stained glass windows throughout are beautiful and the furniture, fittings and decor match exquisitely. My very large and tastefully decorated bedroom at the front of the house overlooked Balgowan's own gardens, the University Botanic Gardens, the wide River Tay estuary and...

This is the first review I've done on TripAdvisor, even though I've used it a LOT and have traveled a lot. And Balgowan House is definitely worth the effort. My brother and I were fortunate enough to stay with Richie and Helen a few weeks ago on a golf trip and of all the 6 different places we stayed, my...

We came to Scotland to see places and dance scottish. This wonderfully located Edwardian mansion gave us a panoramic view over the Tay, a huge room with super bed and a private bathroom one could dance in. Great access for a car-driver to go on into Dundee or drive out sightseeing. We felt privileged to stay here, and would certainly...

The original features - stained glass windows/cornicing/flooring etc are amazing and the decor & furnishings are all very tasteful. Our room was large with quality furnishings with a fabulous view over the river Tay & nearby botanic gardens. The bed was enormous...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Balgowan is a beautiful mansion house set in Dundee's prime West End location. Built circa 1900, the house boasts many period features and has recently been sympathetically modernized to keep this original feel while offering 21st century living. We offer a very friendly service, large comfortable rooms, some with 180 degrees panoramic views over the botanical gardens and the River Tay. Probably the best views in Dundee! Our single/twin rooms have deluxe single beds and our double rooms have deluxe kingsize beds to ensure you have a perfect nights sleep. We are located 1 mile East of the main A90 Edinburgh to Aberdeen Road; 2 miles West from the City Centre and our garden borders the botanical gardens. We are just 10 minute walk from Dundee airport and Ninewells hospital and 20 minutes drive from the famous golf courses of St Andrews and Carnousite.
