My friend and I stayed here one night during a motorcycle tour. We both found the hotel very comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was nice and clean but could do with a bit of modernisation. We had a meal in the bar which was excellent and the breakfast was also very good. There was plenty of... More

Pretty hotel. Good food and nice bar. Older staff ways to familiar and almost rude! She should retire as this is a very bad example for the younger staff!! We were there 3 nights but cancelled 2 dinners due to her attitude. Shame as this is a beautifull setting.

Nice hotel - parking tight but got a space eventually - room 70's decor but very clean - wifi good - booked a table in bar for dinner - excellent meal and service - owner booked a taxi for my daughter - really enjoyed the stay - a bit pricy but ok allrounder for the middle aged - lol -... More

Two rooms - one upgraded, one not. Different prices for each. The bedrooms were comfortable and traditional but there was no need for the heating! The Evening meal was ok but seating in the bar was squashed, wallpaper books and not the real thing - no! And plastic flowers in the foyer - better not to bother! Dinner was fine... More

This place was bustling on a Saturday night, busy bar trade, we checked in and had a good, not great, dinner. The rooms were variously sized, my daughter's much bigger than mine, beds were comfortable. Parking is cramped so don't come back late. Overall a quality hotel, worth the premium price.

Room very comfortable. Bathroom and loo would benefit from some modernisation. Evening meal in bar was excellent, as was breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking on site and free, a bonus. Good situation in centre of town.

Stayed here one night on our way through on a charity cycle ride from Edinburgh to Southampton. The host were most accommodating to everything from storing our bikes, to providing a fabulous early breakfast. Rooms were ultra clean and really comfortable. Best surprise of all was the magnificent quality of the food in the restaurant downstairs. Just what we needed.... More

My daughter and I were agreed that the 'full Scottish' breakfast was the best that either of us had ever experienced anywhere in the world and enhanced still further by being served in the delightful formal dining room, with its well-spaced tables and friendly and efficient staff. If you are looking for the latest in decorative chic, then this hotel... More

In short The service was slow, failed to check on whether we wanted drinks topped up, brought the starters out separately and too far apart (the first lot were going cold by the time we got the final one), the burger bun was stale, a 'well-done" steak still ran with blood when cut, serving staff leant over us (rudely) when...
