I stayed in this beautiful guest house with a couple of friends and as soon as we get there the hosts treated us with unbelievable kindness and hospitality. Helen is probably the best British cooker I've ever met (I'm Italian, so trust me if I say she's good at it) and made us surprising delicious breakfast. The rooms are very...

An excellent place to stay in Galashiels. The decor is very tasteful with real attention to detail - fresh flowers etc and the first time I've ever seen straighteners as well as a hairdryer. It was spotlessly clean throughout the property, The owner was very friendly and helpful and I was very impressed by room 3.The only niggle was that...

This is a very well placed B&B just 5 minutes walk from the station for trains to Edinburgh. Comfortable ,warm and welcoming . An appealing lounge with late evening drinks available and what a breakast. Haggis AND black pudding for those who like both -I did !

We had just an overnight weekend stay to enjoy some of the Border's attractions and couldn't have landed in a better place than Hawthornbank. The house is beautiful, with guest rooms luxuriously appointed beyond expectations. We had the fantastic bay-windowed bedroom to the front which was exceptionally comfortable. Helen and Ian were perfect hosts, friendly and helpful at all times...

My brother and I stayed here for a golf weekend and were delighted with the style, size and comfort of the guest house and our twin room with large bathroom in particular. Breakfast was lovely and drawing room with honesty bar is a nice touch (although we didn't partake ourselves it was nice to have the option). Ian and Helen...

Another stay at Hawthornbank guest house and once again, delightful. The owners Helen and Ian run a very warm and friendly place with every attention to detail. So much so I have gone out to find the canapé napkins for myself! Such a nice touch, a tiny linen napkin embroidered with an H. It reminded me why I once stayed...

Firstly, I was picked up from the local station by Ian, what a lovely extra touch. I was made to feel welcome the moment I stepped through the door. The guest house was light and airy, exceptionally clean and well kept. Helen is the perfect host, I was given a tour of the property then shown to my room which...

We were attending a wedding and from start Ian already had the forethought to get us quickly shown around and gave us all the information we needed as he showed us to our room, making things very swift as we were in a rush. The room was gorgeous we had booked a super king as we like our space but...

This place is absolutely wonderful. We walked up the (very short) hill from Galashiels station, to find the house in a leafy, elevated position overlooking the town and the hills beyond. It is a fine, square, double fronted Victorian building of red sandstone set in its own grounds, with lovely spacious well furnished rooms and every degree of comfort. But...
