My wife and I stayed at Briarbank during our four-day visit to Oban and the Western Highlands. Of the many B&Bs we stayed in while touring Scotland, Briarbank was our favorite. Julie was the perfect hostess and a wonderful chef. The room (MacDonald) was spacious, warm, and comfortable with good views of the hillside. The location is on a private...

The Sate Room was fantastic with an ornate 4-poster - so comfy I could hardly get-up! The bathroom was sparkling and had a fantastic shower, aaahhhh - the owner said they had new corner showers put in the rooms before Christmas. The breakfast was again superb - so much food and presented beautifully. There was so much choice I made...

Briarbank Guest House was the best B&B we have ever stayed at. We stayed in the MacDonald Room with a lovely 4 poster bed and little sofa to relax on. Beautifully renovated spacious bathroom with great shower, bright white luxury fluffy towels and heated towel rack. Each night Julie our host would leave us 2 shots of single malt whisky...

Every extra was in the room down to cotton buds, deodrant, shower gel etc etc. The breakfast was delicious, highly recommend the full Scottish and the kippers & poached eggs. The Briarbank is a very nice B&B in Oban. Our host Julie was very nice and friendly. The welcoming glass of scotch was most delicious and appreciated. The room was very nice but the four poster bed is a little small for tall people. Our room and the breakfast room were both decorated with Scotland in mind. Tartan carpet and...

Briarbank is a luxury B&B. Our room was delightful. The bed was very comfortable. Julie and Bob have thought of every little detail right down to a glass of whisky and peanuts waiting for us for each night of our stay. Julie and Bob are most welcoming, wanting everything to be perfect for you. The breakfast was huge and very...

I had been recommended this guest house by a friend - was absolutely wonderful - You have got to go here and sleep in the majestical four poster beds. Julie, the owner helped us up the steps with our bags which I thought was really thoughtful as she is only a little lady. we got whisky on arrival - (Which...

We stayed one night (May 24) at this charming B&B during our 11 days tour in Scotland. Julie´s B&B (as well as the town of Oban) were one of our highlights. Situated near the centre of Oban with fine viewings, Briarbank B&B is a perfect place to stay. We stayed in the MacDonald room and were very pleased with our...

Briarbank Guest House is situated in the bustling harbour town of Oban run by Chris and Joanne Pashley. This romantic accommodation is nestled in a peaceful hillside location with far reaching views towards the hills at Glenshellach and Soroba. All rooms are en-suite with two of our rooms benefitting from four-poster beds. Briarbank has private parking at the bottom of the garden, however due to our hillside location, Briarbank may not be suitable for the elderly or anyone with mobility issues. Wifi is available throughout along with tea/coffee making facilities. Briarbank is the perfect location to explore Oban and the surrounding area. Oban is known as the gateway to the Isles with ferries leaving on a regular basis to Coll, Tiree, Barra, Eriskay and Mull. All rooms feature en-suite toilet and shower facilities with two of our rooms, The Macdonald Suite and State Room, featuring four-poster beds. Briarbank also boasts a guest lounge and mature south facing gardens to relax in. Briarbank is a short five minute walk from the centre of Oban where many seafood restaurants and bars can be found, along with the busy ferry terminal. Oban is home to McCaig's Tower, which is a prominent tower on Battery Hill overlooking the town giving stunning views over the sea to Mull and surrounding islands. In and around Oban there are many outdoor activities including beautiful walks and, for the more adventurous, sea kayaking. The Oban Sealife Sanctuary is a short drive away and you can also pop into Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel on the way. If you're interested in Scottish history, a trip to Dunollie Castle and Museum is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Walk round the grounds and enchanted woodlands discovering the life of the MacDougals in the 1745 House Museum. If your looking for a sight seeing or wildlife tour Oban has many to choose from including day trips to the islands of Mull, Coll and Tiree. ... more   less
