We couldn't have hoped for a better Oban weekend experience and it was largely down to the warm, down to earth welcome we got from Jeremy and Terrence at the hostel. It's small, unique and filled with interesting reading, pictures and fresh cut flowers everywhere. The room we had was a really decent size, comfy and well lit. Every morning,...

Good: location. Bad: the rest. The room was... strange. The beds were unconfortable, and the mattress base looks like from a kids game. There were just a shower for 15 people, which got stuck with the first person forming a pool. The landlord knocked to our door at 8:00 in the morning asking if we paid the day before, and...

Great place, kind of a community feel, friendly fellow to welcome us and a good kitchen with home made jams etc. Older place but decent value for 18£ when everywhere else was completely book. Central location. I recommend.

Stayed here last week. Hosts Jeremy and Terrence very friendly and accommodating. Perfect for anyone seeking somewhere unconventional and unique to stay. Room was very clean with character and extra rugs in case the Scottish weather disappointed us (we didn't need these!) Charming little kitchen with a multitude of crockery for a build-your-own breakfast. Home-made jams were delicious and we...

Found this hostel in the Lonely Planet guide whilst we were travelling around Scotland so expected it to be eccentric but it was a little too odd. Our room was on the top floor and it smelt like stale smoke. Everything else was exceptionally clean though including the communal bathroom. I can understand the community value of the hostel for...

Great quiet night in the top flat and an early breakfast before taking the first train. Just what was needed. Friendly, clean and basic - would recommend. Have stayed here many times over the years - still welcome!

Got stuck on Oban, Mull ferry cancelled, so we had to go cheap as had 14 kids with us, this is what it is, very cheap, dont expect much as its tired and dated, rooms are none to bad, they have, no joke, electricity meters in all the rooms! Kitchen was ok and breakfast, help yourself. Got us on our...

Value for money but very basic, decor getting tired throughout. Beds clean and comfortable enough, coin in the slot meters for the electric heaters in the bedrooms. The large kitchen acts as the common room, but shuts at 10.00 pm. It was reasonably clean, but there were dogs in it some of the time I was there. The rooms are...

Not I have to confess I used to stay at Jeremy's place 15 years ago when I lived on the Isle of Mull and needed a room for the night. Felt just like home, we even had teddies on the beds! Would love to stay there again some day.

Jeremy is quite the character and so is his hostel. He is in his 70s and many of the rooms have a good age on them as well. However, a room for two was a good price, the kitchen is large and well equipped and is a good meeting place to chat with other residents. It has wifi and homemade...
