This hotel is from dark comedy. Loud, windows looks like they gonna pop outside on unsuspect bypasers, shabby wallpaper, shabby second hand furniture, cracked tiles, shabby room, fusty smell like toenails 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. After one night I am all laughed out. I hope there is more space to laugh in the future. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌👌👌👌. Ps: the hotel is a high risk on all counts. This place should be closed and rebuild.
Stayed in this hotel on the week of the worst winds, but did not dampen our spirits. Absolutely wonderful hotel, warm, very clean and such amazing views from our splendid room in what I called the turret. Have stayed in 3 other Strathmore hotels but the food in this one was exceptional and far superior to the others with friendly helpful staff. Thanks to Kimberly who served most of our tea, coffee and sweet treats which were simply delicious. There is a beautiful staircase, which was great to climb after all the scrumptious food !!
Travelling home and so far I would not rate my stay, I haven't even been to sleep and there's already many many things wrong. On arrival there I checked in asked about food being served, yes there was and was told it'd be delivered to my room, no problem with that. There was no mention of how breakfast was to be served, if it's the same way or dtwnstairs, so I had to ring reception for that information. When I ordered my food I had asked for no salt on my chips and when my food had arrived it was not as advertised and there was so much salt on my chips I couldn't even eat them let alone give any to my child as I had intended, the macaroni cheese was very tasty just a shame about the rest of the meal, in fairness to the hotel I got a partial refund on my food. The hotel itself could do with an update as there is very clear signs that the room has suffered from a leak or some serious damp in the past and various chips and pieces of wood that are missing from the coving around the ceiling and the skirting boards. The bathroom was very nice though. To top off a bad stay so far I asked if I would be ok to just hide out in a corner somewhere in the lounge bar, out of sight from Windows so no one would get into trouble, I didn't want any coffees or food or anything, just somewhere to sit with my child so we weren't out in the cold as she's less then a year old, and was told no there was no possible way. It's safe to say I won't be staying here again in future but feel giving it a 1 star review was too cruel as the lady on reception was nice about everything.…
Spent one night here before catching the ferry to Mull the next morning. I can understand the fairly mixed reviews but we liked it and it was good value. It is not plush and could use some updating but has bit some charm and the rooms were perfectly comfortable. A nice breakfast too in a huge dining room on the first floor. Centrally located. Car parking could be a problem. There is a small car park but obviously the hotel pre dates mass car ownership. We left ours overnight in a car park about 10 mins walk away on the sea front for which there was no charge.
The hotel offered a very warm welcome in difficult and trying times. They are dealing very well with the restrictions of the current situation. My wife has very specific dietary requirements because of a medical condition. This has been catered for very well and the staff have gone out of their way to accommodate her needs. The staff have been without exception friendly, helpful and welcoming.
