Stayed here in early june on a deal which was in a master room number 21and was superbly furnished with a huge bathroom. The hotel itself looks run down but its very very busy so it will get worn out but its just a little moan on my behalf as the rest of the hotel is 1st class, and the...

Have stayed here a few times recently on business but have never got round to reviewing. Couldn't fault anything! Each room is different with it's own individual decor, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent with varied seafood (and other) daily specials. Will definitely be aiming to book in here for future business trips!

Everything is brilliant. They reply to emails and are accommodating as things change. Then there's the welcome, the room, bedding, friendly efficient staff, superb food, great wine list, choice of whiskies, ambience (buzzing) and it's all wrapped up as the George. And no, I am not related just genuinely gushing about a brilliant place. No wonder it's always busy. Will...

Spent 3 days with friends here in May. We have stayed at The George several times and obviously love it because we keep coming back! The rooms are beautiful - although we can see that standards are slipping a little this time. We stayed in Room 16 and it was apparent that it hadn't been vacuumed properly. The rug in...

Have just spent a weekend at The George. Our room was very comfortable and we had a fantastic meal in the restaurant and 2 super breakfasts. There was great live music in the bar on both nights. Overall a great venue.

We went to the pub at the hotel for lunch. The pub is huge, but it does not have any sunlight coming from anywhere. Its like dingy den. We had fishcakes with a couple of peer ciders. The service was quick and staff was friendly.

We had lunched here three years earlier, and were so impressed we decided to stay there to break up our trip to the wild west of Scotland from Yorkshire. We had a lovely room with a super king sized bed, on the first floor. Dinner in the restaurant (salmon with pasta) was superb. The breakfast was the best we have...

Exterior looked unimpressive with scaffolding, but walk through the door and what a treat! We were soaked (and I mean SOAKED) from a long walk with a dog in tow & we could not have been made more welcome, despite it being busy. Decent quality & reasonably priced food in a relaxed environment, full of character. In a part of...

We popped in for lunch and weren't disappointed. The place was busy and the service excellent. We had our dog with us and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Food was great - the only downside was it was so dark in the bar. Worth a visit.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Management were very helpful in setting up a room for us. All staff were very friendly. Good menu for dinner and a very relaxing and enjoyable breakfast. Will certainly return.
