I had the pleasure of staying at Argyll Hotel in August of 2016. The owners, Ian and Nick, have unequalled hospitality and treated my wife and 3 boys with total excellence. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone needing accommodations anywhere on the Kintyre Peninsula. The hotel is ideally located about halfway from Campbeltown and Tarbert. Great beach. Great breakfasts...

Our third visit to the Argyll hotel and just perfect . Friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. A sea view restaurant with nice fixed price menu. Real ale after a walk along the beach . Can't wait to visit again .

We visited this hotel for one night and were very impressed. The food was good, the hosts very welcoming, the rooms comfortable(though small) and well equipped with comfortable beds, fluffy towels and thoughtful extras like a throw to put over the bed in case the dog jumped on it. Dogs were allowed everywhere except the restaurant although this was not...

We didn't actually stay in the hotel but were staying for a short break in the static caravans next door. The hotel had a lovely feel to it. We enjoyed sitting outside on the it's patio having a drink in the sunshine watching the sunset. We were blessed with some fantastic weather. The food was good and I would definately...

Our idyllic overnight eating a delicious salmon dinner looking out over a beautiful, stormy Atlantic was a fantastic experience! After dinner our group went out and got our feet wet in the surf and searched for shells and rocks!! Loved it!

We spent three nights here while visiting family in Campbeltown, combining a holiday break with familial duties but guaranteeing time to ourselves each evening back at the hotel. The owners have done a great job with this ageing building, rooms inevitably made smaller by adding en suite facilities but perfectly fine with a sea view and the calming sound of...

Staff very helpful. Good coffee and wine. Conservatory restaurant very pleasant, dinner menu fair. Same for three consecutive nights. Special effort made for gluten free diet, going to trouble of getting gluten free haggis. Waiting staff need to smarten up a lot. A clean apron daily. Bar area need some bulbs replacing. Breakfast buffet minimal could be improved. Room terribly...

Everything is right about this hotel. From the moment I made contact by email to the 'have a good journey' when I left I was so impressed by the staff and service at the Argyll. Everyone is friendly and keen to help. They are polite, accommodating, and a delight to be with. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Argyll Hotel sits on Bellochantuy bay, 10 miles north of Campbeltown on the beautiful Kintyre peninsula. It is a small hotel with eight bedrooms, most boasting sea views of the Atlantic across to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. The conservatory restaurant and lounge area give panoramic views of the ocean and islands too. A great place to chill and relax and of course to eat, with lunches and dinners served daily. Sit on our outdoor terrace and listen to the waves cascading onto the white sandy beach of the curved bay. The terrace leads directly onto the beach where you can walk off your dinner or build up your appetite before dinner. A great place too for children to play or to walk your dog. The hotel dates back to the late eighteenth century when it was built as a coaching inn and has remained as a hotel to this day. Modernised over the years, the hotel still retains the feel of an old west coast hotel with is cosy snug bar, but has the modern conveniences of en suite rooms with TV, free wi-fi access and an affordable restaurant meaning you do not have to leave the comfort of the hotel. ... more   less
