The food is excellent and the bar is well stocked with a good selections of gins. The location on Bellochantuy Beach is so beautiful and this is captured in the wonderful paintings displayed around...

My OH and I decided to book and impromptu get away after seeing the special 3 night dinner bed and breakfast offer for March on FB. We had an evening meal here last year, whilst staying nearby, so knew a little bit about the hotel already. The hotel is very dog friendly which was perfect for us, as we wanted...

This was our first break away with our two dogs. Lovely warm welcome by the owners who have two dogs. We didn't stay at the hotel, we were in a caravan virtually next door. It is a dog friendly hotel where dogs can stay. We were allowed in the bar area with the dogs. Staff very friendly and accommodating, making...

We have popped in before, for food and coffees, and so knew the Hotel was very dog friendly. Booked up for a three day break and can't fault the service. Very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are well presented. Meals are served in the conservatory, overlooking the sandy beach. Breakfast is freshly made and offers good choice. Evening meals are good...

Cracking location to just get away from it all. Property overlooks the Paps of Jura and Gigha so the setting is hard to beat. especially on a clear sunny day. The staff are very attentive as are the owners ( Nick and Ian) who cant do enough for you. The food served is excellent and there is a good choice...

Just returned from a lovely short break at this smashing little hotel. Not just 'dog friendly' but 'dog very friendly'. Too often this means they put you in a corner and smile but not here. Very clean and smart hotel with excellent friendly and helpful staff. Food is superb, no doubts at all. It leads straight onto a very clean...

Went to the Argyll Hotel on old years night, enjoyed a lovely dinner and a couple of drinks in the cosy bar. Very freindly staff, the hotel is situated right on the beach and was a lovely 20 min walk from our holiday cottage. The hotel would be a lovely relaxing stay with long walks on the beach.

This hotel whilst a little remote has great views and amazing sunsets. The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much. Whilst there may not be a tv in the bar area there are other facilities such as a pool table to keep you entertained. Meals are good and filling.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Argyll Hotel sits on Bellochantuy bay, 10 miles north of Campbeltown on the beautiful Kintyre peninsula. It is a small hotel with eight bedrooms, most boasting sea views of the Atlantic across to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. The conservatory restaurant and lounge area give panoramic views of the ocean and islands too. A great place to chill and relax and of course to eat, with lunches and dinners served daily. Sit on our outdoor terrace and listen to the waves cascading onto the white sandy beach of the curved bay. The terrace leads directly onto the beach where you can walk off your dinner or build up your appetite before dinner. A great place too for children to play or to walk your dog. The hotel dates back to the late eighteenth century when it was built as a coaching inn and has remained as a hotel to this day. Modernised over the years, the hotel still retains the feel of an old west coast hotel with is cosy snug bar, but has the modern conveniences of en suite rooms with TV, free wi-fi access and an affordable restaurant meaning you do not have to leave the comfort of the hotel. ... more   less
