Sadly an unsatisfactory stay. Worn out and dated throughout. Marks on the walls. Worn and faded furniture. Noise and poor soundproofing. The worst aspect was the totally worn and uncomfortable matress on the bed. It was an utter disgrace. It was fit for the bin. This building im sure was once grand and impressive, but not now. The staff however, were very pleasant and provided a good level of service and friendly attention. Breakfast was reasonable. Ordered and served in a timely manner with a good selection. Sadly i would not recommend this hotel. It was hugely over priced and not worth it at 86quid a night. The correct price point would be more like £55 for the condition of the building.
Stayed here on a business trip, staff were friendly and room service kept rooms clean with fresh towels, coffee ,tea and biscuits refreshed everyday. Bathroom was modern and a smart tv with netflix etc. Good menu, decent drinks selection and breakfast was good with full english and cereals, toast and fruit .
Just back from an overnight stay at this gem of a hotel. There's a free carpark at the rear of the hotel, which was ideal. The room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. We had dinner in the hotel. The sirloin steak was delicious as was my husbands roast beef. Breakfast was great too, all you can ask for. In all, we had a fantastic stay ( wish it was longer ) The staff are all extremely helpful and very friendly. A huge well done to all. We shall definitely return
Stayed here one night to visit a local distillery. Well located short distance from bus stop. Friendly reception staff. The room was clean, the bed comfortable although I required the quilt from the second bed for additional warmth. The room was quiet, facing a courtyard.
This is an old building with character. Really enjoyed my stay, the atmosphere is great, staff are friendly and helpful, beds were very comfortable, and although the building is older, the bathrooms are modern. It's situated right in the centre of Campbeltown so everything is in walking distance, including the distilleries. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Really great value for money!
Stayed for whisky trip and it’s a central hotel, close to the boat and Springbank and Glengyle. Nice, clean rooms and I also got a bathtub which is nice. Full Scottish breakfast available with helpful staff and quick service. Recommend the hotel without a doubt. There will be sound outside since it’s in the town centre of course. As a side note, not much open on Sundays in Campbeltown so consider when planning.
We came here for a 'high tea'. Food was amazing, quick service, friendly and attentive staff and definitely value for money. Decor is a little tired but that does no way impact the service or staffing. We will definitely be back :)
Stayed for one night and hotel was okay. Staff were friendly but rooms were not as expected. Very old decor, bathroom was dirty and had bugs crawling around on the floor. Shower was broken and shower head kept falling down. Breakfast was average but the breakfast room felt more like a village hall and it was cold - was shivering whilst having breakfast. Not the best place to stay unless standards are raised.
Okay, so it was late. I was tired, and I thought I was booking the Royal Hotel in Campbelltown. And even believed this, until after I pulled up outside, then went for a walk. During this walk, I came upon the Argyll Arms Hotel and a streak of fear raced across my mind. I checked the phone, and found it it was true - I was parked outside the wrong hotel, and worse still, I was booked into the wrong hotel. Being a canny Scotsman, I like to look after the coffers but not to the detriment of my comfort. I checked in and was greeted by a lovely (Polish/Eastern European?) lady receptionist who was brilliant. So nice, professional, polite and very welcoming. She explained that there was a car park for the hotel, which I was relived about as I didn't want to park the car on the street. The room was large with a large bathroom and over-bath shower. A double bed in the middle of the room, split the door to the built-in wardrobe and toilet. Nice enough, but I felt that I have booked into the 1980's! I had a (very scuffed) table on which to rest my laptop, and write this review. the room was fine. The hotel was fine, The receptionist was brilliant. The breakfast was limited, although tasty, quick and hot. The servery team were very efficient and professional. Although Scottish, yet living in England, I am not used to this ongoing "Scottish" facemask policy which we scrapped in England, many, many weeks ago. Again, the wonderful receptionist came to my rescue with a smile.…
The staff are the backbone of this hotel. They are so helpful, pleasant and friendly. The building is beautiful and so clean. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was excellent. Breakfast was ok - the sausages were outstanding though :-) Although the room was not good the bed had a top sheet below the duvet. What a delight. We don't use a duvet and it was wonderful to be able to just have the sheet. Room 20 - so noisy - we were right above the pub next to the hotel and there was a party going on until after 1am. Really not good. The room was quite stuffy - strange for the end of September but we couldn't have the window open because of the smokers below. The windows did not keep out the noise as the are not double glazed - probably because of the age of the building. That's normally not a problem but the noise outside was awful until the early hours…
