The Number 8 Guesthouse was our first B&B experience on our 4 week holiday in Ireland and Karen and Bob didn’t disappoint. They went above and beyond, Bob had fantastic travel tips to make good use of our time. The location was perfect, short stroll over the Peace Bridge into the city centre. Thank you Karen and Bob, your hospitality will be remembered forever, we hope you enjoyed the Australian Shiraz.
What a wonderful stay in a fantastic and beautiful home. Karen & Bob we’re so friendly and kind. I had a great nights sleep with the electric blanket! The breakfast was delicious and Karen helped to accommodate my special diet. As I was travelling on my own I really appreciated the private parking and felt very safe. Looking forward to staying again soon with friends. Thank you.
We really enjoyed our stay at ‘Number 8 Guesthouse’! Location is perfect : walking distance from the city centre and in a quiet area. The hosts are very nice, helpful and gave us a warm welcome. The room and the bathroom are very clean, bright and comfortable. And the breakfast... Probably the best we had during our stay in Ireland : delicious, with fresh products. We often find good places to stay but rarely as great as ‘Number 8 Guesthouse’! We definitely recommend it!
We spent two nights here as part of our tour of Northern Ireland and were very pleased we booked this B&b. Bob greeted us and took our heavy cases up to our room which was extremely clean and very comfortable. I really appreciated the pot of tea Bob made us on arrival and the mini sponge cakes were very tasty. Karen’s breakfasts were delicious, in particular the fruit salad which was a nice treat. Highly recommend this B&b for any visit to the city.
I visited Derry to do a course last weekend and stayed at Number 8 Guesthouse. I was only looking for somewhere to get my head down for the night but was in for an amazing surprise. From my arrival I was made most welcome. Having just driven for over six hours Bob sat me down and brought a welcome pot of tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake. When Karen arrived shortly afterwards she made me equally welcome. I was asked what I wanted for breakfast (full English or Irish depending on whether you say Londonderry or Derry!) and what time I wanted it. I was not disappointed; the breakfast was fit for a king! Bob even offered to drop me off at my course venue. One can't BS this sort of welcome; this was above and beyond what you'd expect from a guesthouse. The room was wonderful; none of the clinical hotel style but perfectly appointed. 4 star luxury at a reasonable price. Advice and a city map were given on what to see if time was available; I, unfortunately, only got to see the Peace Bridge. I'd love to return to see more of the city of Derry and I know exactly where I want to stay: Number 8 Guesthouse. Thank you Karen and Bob for being such excellent and friendly hosts. I'll be back.…
This review is long overdue! We stayed here at the end of October 2017 while on our honeymoon. Karen and Bob were so welcoming and kind, and gave us great recommendations for things to do and see in the area. The house was a pleasant 15-minute walk into town, and it was nice to have a quiet place to come back to at night. The room itself was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. We would recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a place to stay in Derry.
Number 8 is tucked away in a quiet residential cul de sac close to the south bank of the River Foyle and Ebrington Square. Our room, a double, had a separate private bathroom next door (huge, with bath and separate shower) and was both very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Nice touches included the electric blanket and kit kats on the tea tray. Breakfast was excellent - cooked breakfast for me, mixed fruit and yogurt + home made brown bread and scones for my (veggie) wife. Derry centre was a pleasant 15 minute stroll across the Peace Bridge. If you don't want to walk as far as this in the evening, there are 2 restaurants close by in Ebrington Square (Ollies and the Walled City Brewery Pub/Eatery). ("Derry Milk", the Walled City Brewery's stout, is magnificent!). Quiet, but handy for the sights, Number 8 is a great place to stay in Derry. Recommended.…
Myself and my fiance stayed on Saturday 25th November . we were greeted by the lovely Karen and her husband Bob and shown to our fabulous room. It had everything we needed and more, it was beautifully decorated and warm and huge! We had asked for a number for a taxi but Karen kindly offered to drop us into the city and gave us a recommendation where to go to for food and drink, and her recommendation was spot on, we had a great evening in the city. She kindly put on the electric blanket for us so the bed would be warm when we got back. After a very good and comfortable sleep, we went down stairs for a fabulous breakfast, however I had one too many gins the night before and couldn't finish but it was absolutely fabulous and set us up for the drive back to Dublin. We were sat in a beautiful room and had coffee and breakfast admiring the beautiful garden and surroundings. We felt like we were in the lap of luxury. I would recommend ANYONE to go and stay in the luxurious Number 8 guesthouse as I guarantee you will have an experience as good as ours. I can't wait to back to spend another night in Derry just to stay there. …
We had a great stay in this lovely guesthouse that is in a quiet location within walking distance of the city. Very nice and helpful hosts for whom nothing seemed to much trouble. Finally, breakfast was delicious, served up with local and homemade produce. Highly recommended.
Great place to stay. The rooms are immaculate and Karen is a great host. Nothing is a bother I was even treated to tea and cake when I arrived after four o clock. Wasn’t expecting that. Really nice touch. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay and it’s literally a few mins in a taxi if you are looking to go into town.
