Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked this hotel for our big family get together to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. The hotel was a great choice, the views from the rooms of the Donegal hills are beautiful. Everyone commented how friendly and attentive the staff were and it was 5 stars for breakfast and dinner. It's a short taxi ride into town and its location means it's very peaceful at night and has ample parking for guests. Looking for a base for your trip to Derry, look no further. 😁👍

Made us welcome as soon as we walked in the door, staff work really hard to please us. Stayed 4 nights bit pricey but worth the expense. Breakfast was a delight full of delicious choices, carvery was well worth it the beef fell apart, if you ever went to Derry you must stay there.

We have just spent the best 4 nights here. My Dad Elder Brother My Youngest Son and My Self. From arriving to leaving it was all top notch. Staff waiting at the Door for us when we arrived and staff waving us off when leaving. The Rooms were excellent compliments to the cleaners. Food was Great Compliments to the Chefs.

We had our wedding party at the Belfray in May 2023. I can’t speak highly enough of the venue and the staff, everything was well organised and they we very helpful especially Jason and Geraldine. The food was very good, bedrooms well presented, clean and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back for Sunday dinner when I’m next home.

The is a very interesting hotel located in County Derry just outside of the City of Derry/Londonderry. We stay ed here for a couple of nights while touring locations in the city and I would rate it as the best hotel we stayed in over the two weeks in Ireland. It is an old building which has been completed renovated. The rooms were very modern, and the service was excellent. We at the restaurant and bar both nights we were there, and were very pleased with the food and service in these venues. In the renovation, they included an elevator/lift which makes all the floors accessible, but is very small and a bit quirky, but after one trip the details were mastered and carrying luggage to upper floors was not a problem. Breakfast was excellent and easy. A full Irish breakfast is available and other breakfast items are available on a self-service basis.

This is a little gem of an Inn! The staff/service and food were 5 star! We are well travelled and I have to say this has been one of our favourite experiences! Yes, the decor is old fashioned but that adds to its charm. Everything about this place is old fashioned, and I mean that as a huge compliment: very friendly staff who can’t do enough for you, excellent evening meal and excellent freshly cooked breakfast, bedroom and communal areas were spotlessly clean. Free parking and great value for money. Bring back old fashioned I say! Highly recommend this place for exploring Northern Ireland.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for guests. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The rooms bright and airy. Breakfast is plentiful and freshly cooked to your requirements. I’d definitely stay here again.

Arguably one of the best places I've ever stayed. From the warm welcome from Finula on the front desk who also made sure I was able to check in early and was extremely friendly and chatty. To Mary , just a wonderful friendly and Sassy lady who just is the heart and soul of the place and is such a hard worker. To the wonderful location, amazing food and probably the best pint of Tennents I've had ( and I live in Scotland ) I don't know where I can praise this place more. I've never been to a more flawless location and I've managed hotels all over the world including N.Y.C. When I'm back in a few weeks for business again... expect a call. I won't stay anywhere else up North !! Oh... breakfast was also the best hotel breakfast and service I've ever experienced too..... ( can I just move in ) See you soon Simon.
