Heard good reports of here so we decided to start our Wedding Anniversary here for one night. On arrival we went straight for our Buffet Lunch, which on the whole was above average, good pub grub at best but at buffets you shouldn’t expect more from a mass produced free for all!! Then we booked in, staff were excellent really pleasant and accommodating, then we got to the room, oh dear!! Small or what did the ad used to say ‘Compact and Bijou’. Twice within two minutes had to apologise to my wife for nearly knocking her over as the distance from the end of the bed to table was about 2-3ft. Then with room heading for Spa like temperatures we could not locate Air Con, surely a requirement for 4 star rating 🤷🏻♂️ Ok so we will just open the window and let in the lovely Derry Air, eh nope had to prop it open with the lovely Eco friendly cartons of still water. Now let’s get to the bed, soft ok some people like that but we discovered it was wider than longer. So wide I had to email her to pass the remote control for the TV (ok a little humour). Discovered the length to be a little awkward, for me at just 6ft 2” as my feet dangled off the bottom at full stretch, goodness knows what the big guys do!! Again I will stress Staff excellent even going out of the way to make my wife a cocktail not on the menu and at breakfast also very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast? 5-10 again just lacking that cutting edge, all pomp and no ceremony. Honey Glazed Pork sausages or something like that, I’m no chef but trying to cook sausages with honey is going to be difficult and yes burnt and overcooked they where, also limited choice of cold meats and fruit etc for the delicate flowers among us. All in all a little underwhelmed. On reading other reviews I tend to agree with them that it’s like the Senior Management in the Hastings group have forgot the Hotel exists, so that will be the heading for my review. Needs a lot of work to bring it to 4 Star rating it clearly is not.…
I stayed overnight for the Legenderry 2022 car show. Great venue, very relaxed. The Bar food was great, with the Seafood Chowder amongst the best I have ever tasted. Room was comfy with the choice of a double or a single bed. Bathroom was spacious and well appointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was very easy with loads of spaces in the hotel grounds.
Room pretty average. Food not great. Sorry. Breakfast really needs an improvement and staff training required. City centre not so handy but just a taxi journey away. Not a fault of the hotel. Depends on what you are looking for in your stay. Drinks can be expensive.
Fabulous hotel , beautiful public areas , lovely bedrooms, great food with the additional bonus of the nicest staff we have ever met . Can’t wait to come again . Situated in a quiet location with plenty of parking Thank you 😊
We were using a £200 birthday gift voucher for Hastings Hotel to stay at this hotel. The two nights B&B only cost is £250 in total . This is rated as a four star hotel but sadly it did not live up to our expectations . The hotel is situated at the intersection of two roads , one of which was a very busy road and we were placed at the front of the hotel , in a corner room which was quite cramped . Also the bathroom light couldn’t be turned off , unless all the lights in the room were switched off from a central switch making the room very dark . Also was quite a lot of continuous traffic noise being so close to the main road, though the heavy drapes did help reduce some of this during the night . We were staying for two nights and on the first morning we arrived near the ending time for breakfast to be served , to find poor choice of foods and what was available was not very warm or appetising as it was being kept warm in “ steamers” …this had the effect of making the food “ soggy”. On the second morning we decided to go down two hours earlier than the previous morning , thinking the breakfast might be of better quality but unfortunately it wasn’t We had two evening meals in the Library Bar: the first night ( Wed) was good , unfortunately on the second evening, two out of the five main course choices were not available and it was quite early in the evening ( about 6.30pm) . It also has no leisure facilities…spa/ pool Overall I would not recommend this hotel as a four star hotel ….a disappointing experience, unfortunately ☹️…
Was very disappointed in this hotel. Dirty carpets. Cigarette burns in carpets. Smallest fan I've ever seen! Staff very friendly. But hotel did not meet the standard CIE had set with other hotels. Dinner we had was very good.
A beautiful hotel with the most fantastic helpful staff!!!! Everglades will forever stay in my fiancee and my heart as we got engaged there over the weekend. The staff and especially Finley helped towards the yes answer and am forever grateful to them all.
A very friendly and homely hotel. All aspects of our short weekend stay were first class. Staff were excellent in all the way.. Service staff and reception staff made a point of taking time to speak. The common areas are kept very tidy and clean. Generous variety of food at breakfast and a very temping menu for evening meals..The hotel is quite a distance from the city centre attractions. Would recommend it without reservation.
Having stayed in every other Hastings Hotel on numerous occasions this was our first time at the Everglades. It was OK. Room was standard and Breakfast was good. The Exec chef must have been on Holiday as his evening menu you could get at any Cafe or Golf Club - we actually went out second night into the city to eat. Possibly the bosses at Hastings don’t travel up too often as waiting times at the bar were long and staff very laid back ( nice people)
Stayed for a family wedding. Gorgeous hotel, delicious food, beautiful room with an attentive, friendly and warm staff. The hotel made an already fab occasion even more special. Would highly recommend.
