My friend and I were going to Rod Stewart concert and decided to top it off by staying in the Merchant hotel - my 3rd time and my friend's 1st. We stayed in a Victorian twin room which did not disappoint - luxurious. The beds were massive and room decor very grand with spacious bathroom. After the concert we had...

Went to The Merchant for some cocktails. Was shocked to be charged a service charge on top of their £10 cocktails which is fine. Was told all five star hotels do this. I don't think so. So do challenge them. Rip off

My wife and I stayed at the Merchant Hotel in October to celebrate our joint birthdays. The service we received from all of the staff was first class and the welcome, friendliness and attention to detail provided by Steven Kane the Front Office manager was exceptional. The cocktail lounge, the accommodation and the meal in the great hall were all...

Having a birthday in November is like a pre Christmas warm present warm up ! As the day was approaching I had decided to be prepared & book a few weeks in advance for a spa & afternoon tea visit. My overall memory of this hotel is one of disappointment. Booked an Art Deco room which going by the images on the website led me to believe the bathroom would have a free standing bath but on arrival the room, which was described in the booking as accessible only had a shower and no bath. I decided to overlook that...

We booked in for afternoon tea here on a Friday afternoon. The experience was very pleasant and I have to say that the surroundings are very impressive. The voters of food that was served and the range of available teas were brilliant. We were shown to our table and our coats were taken immediately. We then chose our tea and...

My wife and I went for the 'celebrate in style' package for 1 night. Check in was smooth with pleasant staff who weren't too brown-nosey. Following a recommendation we opted for an art-deco deluxe double and we loved the room, especially the copious amount of mirrors (how vain we are!). The hydrotherapy room was lovely and thankfully not too busy...

This was our first time to The Merchant. From the very beginning to the day we departed we were delighted with the hotel. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Attention to detail was very obvious throughout the entire place. Our room,a suite, was beautifully decorated and furnished. It was very spacious with a lounge area, bedroom, large bathroom and dressing...

My wife & I had our wedding reception in the Merchant Hotel on 10th November and the whole day was nothing short of amazing! Lynn Beggs our wedding coordinator was fantastic in every way. Nothing was too much trouble for her. We stayed in the Larkin Suite which was simply stunning. All the staff from concierge, wedding banquet, front desk...
