Just got back from staying at the Clayton Hotel Belfast! Not a good experience, the 4 star rating is very misleading. We have a long list of issues from wet pillows, no mattress topper, mould in bathroom, dust & unvaccumed carpets, inedible breakfast to noise from nearby Wetherspoons that filtered through the unsealed windows till the early hours of the morning. The health spa was dirty with hair & mould. Staff seemed disinterested & unfriendly! A few years ago we visited Belfast & stayed at the 3 star Jury’s Inn, in comparison to the Clayton Hotel it was far superior in every way including cost! We wish we had returned but booked the Clayton because of the pool! Big mistake!!
American point of view with a group tour: Upon arriving at the hotel, the tour guide had a difficult time reading the cursive writing for each person in our group to pass out room keys. Miranda, the front desk clerk, was very rude to him, refused to help him, and told him to look at the spreadsheet and look up room numbers and names that way. She seemed very put out that someone wouldn't be able to read the handwriting. It was difficult to read, especially when you hadn't memorized everyone's names. Otherwise, the hotel is in a great location, the restaurant was decent, staff was too busy to be bothered with at times. and the rooms were comfortable. This hotel had the most elevators then all the other hotels we stayed at.
This is a very tired hotel. The room was big but completely inadequate with only one miserly plug socket located on the far side of the room from the bed. You could not use a mirror to dry your hair or charge a phone anywhere in vicinity of the bed. Housekeeping was poor with fresh towels just dumped on top of the toilet. Breakfast was overwhelmed with crowds of people and the (friendly) staff could not keep up with demand. The swimming pool is pleasant but the changing rooms are really showing their age. I was charged £4.50 for a cup of tea - extortionate as the staff member charging me acknowledged. All in all really not worth the money though it testifies to what they can get away with charging now Belfast is so popular.
Visited here on the 27th May and despite leaving feedback while checking out and following up with an Email I have had no reply. I stayed up here for 1 night with my wife as we where attending a show. The only 2 issues I had was we went for dinner in the hotel before our show and we both ordered steak which I found mine to be fine but my wife couldn't eat hers as it tasted a bit off so it wasent touched and I paid for the meal and said nothing but found it odd the waiter didn't even query why her steak wasent touched. I also ordered some cocktails and when my wife tried to drink her Mojito it spilled down her dress and on the table it was full to the top with too much ice that anytime u moved the glass it would spill. I went to the bar and explained this to the bar manager and before I knew it Security was standing over my shoulder accusing me of putting my hand over the bar whatever he ment by that. I tried to explain to Security that there wasent any need for him to even be involved I'm a guests here and there is an issue with the drink but I was wasting my time he was arrogant and rude. The bar manager had just done a refund and didn't wanna know. I left embarrassed and went to the show. When we came back later that night the Security Guard who would be slim with tattoos on his arms was watching me in the lobby so we went to our room and left it at that. This incident put a cloud over our stay and this shouldn't have happened. I felt the bar manager should have stepped in here and he should have been the one to explain to Security why I was at the bar and I wasent a threat in anyway but that didn't happen.…
Convenient to Belfast city centre and City Hall. Great professional staff and comfortable surroundings. Pool, sauna very enjoyable and fitness centre looked good (but was too lazy to try it!) Bed was so comfortable and restaurant was great with tasty food. Relaxing atmosphere in hotel throughout. Maria H., our room attendant, went above and beyond her role in looking after us. Cannot recommend her enough for her kindness and efficient consideration. She should be in customer relations for sure! Parking was not the easiest until began using the JustPark app and found it easy to get parking on the adjacent street around the hotel for a low enough per hour rate until 6pm. Again this was a small irritation in what was a great experience.
Hi, just jumping on to leave a quick review on the Clayton Belfast. The bar was rather busy but that was no issue for bar man Conan! Conan was able to recall both me and my girl friend Megan’s order each team we came to the bar. He was very friendly and also had a great professional attitude… not to mention he also made a mean cocktail!
Visited here on a recent Sunday evening for a meal.food was ok,pretty basic. Service was worst I've ever experienced in a 4 star establishment. My first and last visit. Some of the staff need a lesson in customer relations.
Booked the Clayton Hotel for our UU Final Year Business Studies Formal, as well as a room for my partner and I on the night. From selecting the hotel many months ago, Megan from events was so helpful and was always there if I had any questions or queries. Lisa helped bring all of my bags and table favours in from the car and again, was warm and welcoming and a breath of fresh air. Gary was my right hand man on the night, who went above and beyond for me. For what I thought would be a stressful day, was made an easy and enjoyable experience. For someone that is very picky and OCD about every little detail, he always was about to help me and anything I required for the night. He is a credit to the hotel and events team. Food was excellent and enjoyed by many, and drinks were flowing all night long and guests were greeted on arrival with a lovely drinks reception. Massive shout out to the bar staff, so bubbly and friendly. You could really tell they enjoyed their job, and weren’t afraid to get involved and chat to the guests too. Top class and the best I’ve seen in a long time. It doesn’t end there. My partner and I booked a double room for the night, but were kindly upgraded to an Executive Room, a first for us. The room as always was spacious and clean, faultless. Overall, I had a fantastic experience with the Clayton, with both my event and our normal booking. The whole hotel and staff went above and beyond and nothing was too much. Thank you for everything and for making my life less stressful and a breeze. If you are considering booking an event, do not hesitate to book the Clayton. We will be back again. Kirstyn…
Very nice hotel, very central. Great room and a good atmosphere throughout. Evening meal was excellent and prices reasonable too. The staff are all excellent - very polite and professional. In particular Olivia was amazing. Professional but personable and friendly, efficient and polite. Really put a lovely touch on my visit to A great city. I would totally recommend to stay and eat here. If you eat try the fish and chips, awesome and ask for Olivia. Thanks Clayton, I look forward to coming back soon.
This hotel is perfect for a trip to Belfast. It’s located so close to the main bars / restaurants and the room was super clean and spacious with everything we needed. But I have to say the best part of the experience here is the staff! They were all so accommodating during our stay, so friendly and happy to help with everything. Rory was the best! Making sure we never had to walk to the bar on our tired legs (post marathon 😅) , he was great craic and made us feel so welcome! I will definitely stay here again.
