Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located in a very respectable, upmarket and safe area of Belfast, The Harrison Hotel has to be the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. You enter the front doors via a stunning Victorian tiled path and then into a compendium of Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, burlesque, Victorian wonder. I could spend all day exploring the artwork, quirky touches and nicknacks. The hotel is located close to amenities, restaurants, cafes, bars transport and tourist attractions. Our room was beautiful (The Sloane Suite), from the roll top bath, with amazing mural and empire crystal chandelier to the full sized super king bed, Victorian cast iron radiators, genuine sash windows and ceiling mouldings. I had such a peaceful nights sleep. Zzzzzz! Breakfast is continental style (ham, cheese, croissants etc), with cooked options like pancake stacks with various toppings, porridge, boiled eggs (2) plus toast. The berry compote granola looked gorgeous - I’m sorry I didn’t try it. The toast assortment was great (brown, white, wheaten and fruit loaf). All washed down with orange juice, apple juice, Earl Grey tea and cappuccino. Of course breakfast was served using quirky crockery etc 🫶🏻. The staff were super helpful, friendly but also professional. I cannot fault this hotel, so much so that we have booked in again in December and February.

Hotel's Favourite
This was a most fabulous and completely bonkers hotel. The reception bell was a large eight legged silver gilt rather menacing crab; there was a huge black octopus hanging in front of a golden framed distressed mirror plate, and the wallpapers were engaged in a small riot. Glorius chandeliers were dressed in black lace and a side lamp was affixed to the grinning brass head of a monkey. Another octopus, smaller, spread it’s golden tentacles over the hat and umbrella stand besides the door. Alarming portraits adjourn the walls and there’s a wide horizontal mirror with rude words engraved into the plate. My breakfast pots of Earl Grey were served in quirky teapots from the owners extensive and eccentric collection of teapots that are found on display in the hotel bar. The rooms are themed; the Bronte room for a turbulent romantic weekend; the Samul Becket room for a bit of drama, the Yeats room or the Seamus Heany room with poetry for breakfast, the Van Morrison room for those dark nights of the soul and a C.S. Lewis room with rather a large wardrobe. One room that might be missing is a padded cell! I have travelled to far and distant places, a hundred or more hotels that all fade away into the bog standard and generic and are soon forgotten. You will not forget the Harrison Hotel! It will stay with you long after you leave, you will always, with great affection, recall it’s bonkers character. You may have stayed in many hotels some of them quite friendly but you are unlikely to ever have experienced the warmth of the welcome at Harrisons. You may have stayed in hotel rooms with Smart, flat screen, multi channel satellite TV’s. There are no TV’s in any of the Harrisons rooms, and if they did have TV’s then they would probably be 1954 models showing only black and white documentaries about bohemians and surrealism. In the Belfast taxi on our way to the Railway station and home I remarked to the taxi driver that a hundred years ago the owner of the Harrison might have been publically burned at the stake as a witch. “She might still be” he replied, and we laughed with the joy of it all for we had been caught by the magic of the spell of the hotel Harrison.

What a wonderful place. It was an absolute adventure. The surroundings were the quirkiest I’ve ever stayed in. Artwork, antiques, quirky prints and op shop finds. It might take a year to catalogue the curios. The crazy colour schemes in the rooms seem to somehow work. The Harrison has a lift, a bonus for heavy bags and if you have need. If you book direct, breakfast is included and whilst it’s not a full Irish, it is a substantial continental. Great bathroom in our room and good heating that we could regulate. Melanie seems to be a great supporter of the arts and has lots of people involved in the industry. Her staff are young, warm and enthusiastic. Don’t bother if you are after a minimalist cookie cutter hotel and don’t expect the cutlery to match. Good location and highly recommended.

Immaculate - a warm welcome, clean, warm, comfortable, well situated, friendly staff, reasonable price. I enjoyed four nights, and would definitely return. Close to Queens Uni, Ulster Museum & Botanical Gardens, and an easy walk into town. What's not to like?

We had just a fabulous stay at the Harrison, I had high expectations due to a recommendation but it really exceeded this. From the minute we entered the riot of creative decor and comfort, we were given such a lovely warm welcome. Hospitality at its best. All the staff were so helpful, pleasant and obviously very happy at their jobs. We loved the wild beautiful interior and found something new to gaze over every time we entered a room again. We were in the themed Brontë room which was gorgeous, so comfortable and had a wonderful shower and bath. We had breakfast in our room one day and in the lovely room downstairs the next, both were excellent. The hotel is perfectly situated for a stroll to the city centre. I loved their beautiful Hotel compendium guide, a treat to look at and full of useful information. It’s also so nice to be able to pop into the little bar for a drink and a chat. We can’t wait to return, and absolutely will never forget our stay here. It will be hard to stay in a big modern impersonal sterile hotel again.

What a great experience. The hotel has its unique lovely style. The rooms are very comfortable with high clean standards. The bar has what you need from drinks. The staff and owner are great with their professional skills and always smiling. On the door step several restaurants and pubs. I definitely recommend this place.

Not ‘quirky’, that would do it an injustice, but ‘inspired’ and a refreshing change from the hum-drum chains. Great situation, lovely food and drinks and the most wonderfully attentive staff. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you Melanie!

Beautiful hotel, fantastic room, amazing staff-couldn’t have been happier. Offers of recommendations of where to go, breakfast offered in room. Great value-especially with parking included. Perfect distance from the city, with Botanic gardens almost on the doorstep-already trying to plan the next trip as unfortunately we didn’t get to meet the dog!! Maybe it’ll have to be a longer stay next time!! Have already recommended to loads of people who are already keen to stay
